Received first official mod!

After many disappointing years of getting socks and crap for x-mas, I just received the first official mod for my 2004MCS! YAY!

I got a B&M short shifter for x-mas. I have a long list of mods I'd like to do, but this one will be first. Now I have a difficult decision to make as to whether or not I want to install myself. Two questions:

1) Does anybody know how easy it is to do WITHOUT a lift? I only have floor jacks, and seems like it might be tough.

2) If I choose to have someone do it, does anyone know a good installer in the central Jersey area? I could always take it to the BMW dealer, but I'm not sure how much they'll charge.

After going through the forums, it appears that many think very highly of this mod. I never considered it before, by my father-in-law had one on his corvette and insisted I install one, so he got it for me. I'm psyched to see how it is after the install.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Did mine using 2 Rhino ramps and a little extra lift with a jack just for comfy working room.
Most of the work is easy. The hardest part is reinstalling the shift new arm.

Took me about 2.5 hours and I spent time polishing the pivot *****. The come with a CNC mill finish and I didn't like that so I buffed it out.

If you decide you want to have it professionally installed, why not swing by our shop? You could take a quick trip down to Philly, see our shop, and pick Eric's brain a bit about the mods you have planned.

I did mine with a pair of ramps also, and took about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I agree that the hardest part was twisting the new arm just right to get it to slide into place.
