what is the optimum WHP and TQ

As we are all chasing WHP and mods I was wondering what everyone's goals are..... what is your optimum power and how do you drive the car..... twisties, track, autox, dd, etc..... and, if you like, your proposed path to get there, or how you got there.... and maybe if your done,.... or there is more to do......

whose first?

My near-term goals is around 200whp on a Mustang dyno with stock cams and head (which will be difficult) and a stock appearing underhood. I also want to improve the cars handling and day to day comfort (mostly through non-runflat tires and some bracing). Ultimately I'm shooting for 225whp, low 14's in the quarter, and reliability with the entire setup.
I'm hoping this can be accomplished with the M62 kit and standard bolt ons with a lot of time on the dyno. To get the 225 mark I'm going to probably need heads at the least and to run the times I want I'll need an LSD. Externally I want the car to look stock except for the aftermarket wheels and I plan to moslty use it as a daily driver but want to be able to take it down the 1/8 and 1/4 with consistent times and see the occasional track day.

Goals for THDUKE

A little background first, "THDUKE" has 152K miles on its original engine a 2003 Dec 2002 build, upgraded to JCW @ 18K miles, averages 35 road course track days per year.

My goals for THDUKE will be two phases:
Phase I will be to get 220 to 230 WHP and about 190 lb ft of torque, this is presently schedule to begin 1/15/2007, work will be done by DMH motorsports, will include complete Head, Cam, valve train, rings, rod bearings,Quaife, flywheel, and clutch.
This should allow me to run Summit Pt. lap times in the low 1:20s instead of the mid 1:30s

Phase II is to figure out how to get to 265WHP and 230 lb ft of torque which is my real goal for this car.

Father and son goal was to make the equivalent of a 03 JCW car (205hp) for fewer dollars. We are waiting for MYMini to have their next dyno day which should be in january or februaury so we shall see.

My personal goal would be to make 1 more hp than you, spidey .

My goal, at least power-wise, is a 10:1 weight to hp ratio. Nothing too out outrageous for our small FWD car... just good usable power.

Orignally this was bhp, but with the M62, if it can get me 240 whp, at 2,400 lbs, I'd call it quits, happily.

3 years ago 200whp looked real good for a DD. Today it's reality. The 1 thing I would realy like is +180 TQ, so it looks like a head is in the future. The Stahl header is a strong possibility if it, with either my exhaust or the complete system, is quiet enough or I'll wait & see what the Spyder comes up with.
what is the optimum WHP and TQ, Around 210whp & 180lbs TQ for the quick DD.

I have the Helix TurboKompressor which make about 250 to the wheels, let's say 285 to the crank. I'd love to have 300 to the wheels. There would be several ways to approach this. I'd like to keep a smaller turbo to keep lag to a minimum so maybe head/cam/software/giant free-flowing exhaust is the way to go.

LMAO that's awesome.

My short-term goal is to hit 200whp. Plans to get me there, cat-less header, custom exhaust (3" mid-pipe, 2.5" after that), injectors, and s-afc.

Long-term goals would be a solid turbo-only setup. Power goal is like 400whp DD (on 93), and 500+whp on race gas...

Driving will always remain the same, DD with the occasional 1/4mile track days. Once turbo, I plan on tracking the car.

after coming from 330 hp and awd, I don't much care to spend money on my MCS to make it faster. Plans are to make it handle like my Subaru never could and pay it off at the same time. JCW suspension kit, Ireland adj. camber plates, H-Sport rear sway and camber links along with Volk 16x7 TE37 Time Attacks with 215 width Azenis RT615's. Add in some M7 bracing and I think it's a good start. The car has a pulley, DDM box, exhaust and TMIC and all work will be done by next month with the title in hand a month or two after. Not bad for buying the car in July methinks.

I was chasing 200whp, reached the goal @ 215, but am probably going to lose a little when I drop from a 17% back to a stock size pulley to help drop those a/f ratios a bit.

I do mostly track events and autox, and I will probably be better off with the cooler motor and less boost.

Right now I'm at 216whp and I thought I could be happy but human nature took over. I think the perfect whp for me would be 260whp with 220wtq and for it to be a DD. I would love a turbo but I'm getting a bit nervous with the whole thing, so maybe the new M62 will get my car another 44whp. I hope 260whp is enough for me because I'm out of money.

why would you want do that, why don't you get a new tune. I have similar whp to you and my air/fuel is in the low 11's to 9.5. Can you have someone tune your car on the road or a dyno? I'm guessing I can squeeze another 10-15whp out of my car with a new Fireballed tune.

I'm starting to have my doubts about the M62. It's one thing to post dynos and say "see how nice this is without proper tuning" and another to refuse to show dynos at all and have a bunch of reasons why you can't. I hope I'm just being overly suspicious but I'm going to guess that the setup isn't going to be that hot.

The problem is due to the lack of available tuners on the East Coast....

I bet I could get a lot more power out of the pig rich top end but there really is no solution until FBT comes out nationwide...

Don't think I won't be putting it back on when things get sorted!

I'd like 200+ whp with a Thumper Performance Head/15%/ Port match stock intake/exhaust manifold and Chemical i/c... Then Hopefully bump another 12-18 HP with a (in work) TPR1 camshaft !! 220-225 is the goal, with a performance lopy idle!!

Just me..................................

Thumper

The entire east coast? Maybe Florida but not the mid Atlantic or NY area. Custom tuning is available form Lucky Dog Garage and DMH Motorsports.
