Will this work?

My MCS already has JCW intake, JCW exhaust installed.
I'm just wondering if....we add 15% pulley, JCW Belt (for a peace of mind), JCW fuel injectors and spark plugs, would we be able to use the JCW ECU upgrade? since the only different is the ported and polished cylinder head that we don't have.
Need some input.
Thank you.

May I ask why you want to use all JCW items?

If you keep your current mods, you would see more power with a 19% pulley (with new belt), injectors, and a different ecu (i'm biased to GIAC, but there is also Unichip, MTH and Fireball). Are you trying to keep it as close to JCW as possible because of the warranty?

Yes, warranty is one of the reason.

My plan is to have the JCW kit install, but it will be sometimes later on next year due to I have already spent most of this year budget on suspension, exhaust, etc.

I found that if I would be able to just have dealer install aftermaket pulley and get other JCW hardware (spark plugs, belt, fuel injectors) plus their JCW software, that might be a good alternate route (cheaper, I think).

Also, JCW supercharger pulley is almost equal to 15%, then the only different from the JCW will be only the ported and polished cylinder head.
And then when ever I'm ready, I can add the JCW supercharger and the cylinder head.

My goal is to have ~25hp over stock.

Iggy,

Actually, I'm also interested in your Helix product as well. Do I need an ECU upgrade for your 15% pulley?
If not, I would like to make an appointment on next Tuesday for the pulley install.

you do not need an ecu upgrade for any of the pulleys, but it does help produce more power and make the car smoother.

If you want to make an apt, call the shop tomorrow. I doubt I will be in the shop this week.

With the upgraded I have on my car right now (intake, exhaust) plus Helix 15% pulley, could I achieve the goal of gaining ~25hp?

With the ECU upgraded, the term of smoother, does it mean smoother rev, smoother idle, smoother power band or etc? Kindly advise.

Oh Alex, one more question.

With the pulley only installed, does it hurt anything in the low-end? loss any power below 3k?

For the ecu, you will slightly get more power as well increasing driveability. It will make it smoother while you are on the throttle.

For the pulley, you should experience no power loss below 3k, in fact you should experience a power gain.

If you want to make an apt, I called the shop and they have an open spot at 10am and 3pm next Tuesday (a week from tomorrow). Just call them to confirm which time slot you want.

NO, you don't need the ecu upgrade. I have the 15 pulley and added the GIAC and loved the results. Go to Helix, drop in the pulley and take it for a spin and then have then put the GIAC on. 30 day return policy

search "giac" to read threads

After having 15% pulley for 5 days and almost 1k miles, I've had a lot of fun driving my MINI.
I feel a bit more pull from ~2k rpm up, much quicker off the line,..... but it seems like something is missing at the top end.

Could it be the software?
I start to think: JCW software or GIAC?
JCW or GIAC, JCW or GIAC, JCW or GIAC, JCW or GIAC....oh well.:impatient

Any input?
Thank you.

I feel excatly the same at the top end. No extra power that I like to feel and experiance. I am working with a shop at the moment to have a Head/cam with H-ignition wires, NGK spark plugs, lighter crank pulley (2006 stock) with an oil catch can installed. They are being too busy/lazy to call me back and have my order rolling with the parts and are not returning my calls. They do a very good job on Minis but are horrible in call returns and clientel follow up.

Wish I could have a shop close by that was responsive and fast.
