The FMIC is done!

Well I started talking about this a bit on another thread but I figured I should not high jack it... and start my own... so here it is.. and here's some pics of the process

Get some card board... and shape it to the size of the core you want to use.... I call this... the CFMIC... it's the special cardboard and the red tape that make it so efficient

now... you can see how much room you need... and don't forget to include endtanks into your cutting... as they are needed... for me I went with a 3 inch deep core... so 3inch tanks are ussually a good rule of thumb... and taper accordingly ok so start cutting! well work it out first... hold the CFMIC up to the car.... take the bumper skin off hold it up again... blah blah... and so on... it's time consuming but it works...

and after a few hours...

if all was done right... it should fit!

ok... so order your core... get some end tanks on there.... and then start fitting that...

first cross your fingers... CFMICs are often soft and squishy after fitting and can be deciving... so when fitting the real deal... sometimes it's a no go... but if you calculated right...!!!!

shaping aluminium for the end tank.... and brackets...

Final fitting for the brackets...

weldin up the end tanks! and yes! that's a REAL lens flare!!

cut out the middle grille for max flow!

here you can see how we use fancy black magic tape to make sure all is good with the cuts... it's called electrical tape!

here's the first and last pipe... oooOOOOoooo

and if you leave the tape on there long enough... when you come back it's fused together!

the lay out!

from the lift... just about done!

BOYA!

From someone who made a DIY turbo miata - damn - very nice work.

How are the results? Any issue with all the volume in the longer pipes?

thanks... I cannot take all the credit as I had much help from Dr. Fuh

since the SC is spinning durring idle... you can feel the diff in the tanks left side hot... right side... icy cold...

but no issues... with thw proper cooling the car is much happier...

Kudos I know I don't have the guts to cut up the front end like that, some darn nice work you have. I especially like the Cardboard, you're the first to make me think about how much weight that would save

How is it volume wise in relation to the ALTA you were using?

Any IC in/IC out temps?

And of course how does this play into your overall WHP measurement?

And I know you don't exactly live in a cold enviroment, did you manage to keep the A/C system?

You have a fake scoop like those r56 fools will have! haha. Can't wait to hear how this compares to the other ICs out there. Excellent piece of art.

now its time to use the scoop entirely for the intake!

That looks so badass that the word badass seems inadequate to describe it. . .

I think the correct term is "Bdass" (pronounced Bu-dass). It is so badass that it doesn't need the "a". But seriously thats a great build!
