Is Dinan going out of business?

I would guess no but I have noticed all there stuff is coming down in price, like 60% off. I know they lost some major dealer accounts this year. I have also heard BMW is going to start treating Dinan as any other aftermarket product and not them take care of the warranty. Also these new M5 and M6 motors make is difficult to make more power.

Just a clarification; BMW has never "taken care of their warranty". The warranty on Dinan parts is Dinan's alone and is executed only at Dinan authorized dealer.

I've talked to two different Dinan dealers , one on each coast and both have been very unhappy with the support . For those of you that were at the dragon and saw the Dinan booth you can get a feel for how much they care. BTW it was not their reps fault as he was given nothing to show and he was VERY displeased.

Is Dinan running into the reality of the relatively small MINI market????

I wonder if the small market (compared to the BMW market that Dinan has traditionally served) and relatively late entry of Dinan into that market with much more robust product offerings from competitors is causing Dinan to re-think their MINI market strategy.

I doubt that Dinan is going out of business; but they may be revising their approach to the MINI market.

Dinan's share of the MINI market is minimal - for the products they produce and the R&D that go into it, they apparently can't hit the right price point that other comapanies (webb, m7, alta, etc...) can. I actually had a very interesting conversation with a Dinan rep about this and their position in this community, and frankly, it is almost like it's something they're not going to try to change.

They realize their bread and butter is a much higher price point with much more expensive vehicles and systems. My opinion is that they could have a larger share of this market, but they'd have to change their approach.

I see a common thread of questioning here.

But still no answer.

Huh?

First, BMW doesn't warrant anything.

Second, Yup, my dealer dumped Dinan ... dont know why

Third, Dinans business has always been for 3 series. M5/M6? All they got are suspension/wheels.

Dinan got into the MINI market way to late. JCW and the tuners were way ahead of them. The way the market stuff is pretty lame two with their Stage 1, 2, etc and Units before you get a badge I think they just jumped on the market way too late and now are paying for it.

Definitely not true.

Look at the supercharged E39 M5 they came out with recently - it makes over 600 hp, and I've heard that they have kits that make more. The reason the E60 M5 parts aren't out yet is they take a while to develop, especially when you as a company are warrantying the product and any car they're installed on.

They've recently come out with newer throttle bodies for the M5's V10, and it looks like they have an exhaust system as well. I'm sure new products will appear as time goes on - the M5 and M6 have only been out a short time.

I agree with Strom - Dinan has a variety of kits available for TWENTY ONE different BMWs. Now if chows is arguing that the three series is Dinan's bread and butter, as it is for BMW itself, then there's hardly any way to disagree with that. Bottom line is that if you have a BMW (MINI included), then you can get Dinan products for it.

I really don't think they are going out of business. The MC2 magazine car had the Dinan kit installed just before MTTS and I don't think that Dinan would spend money to put their kit in a MINI for free if they are going out of business.

That is what I said, that is where their business is. Today they have little for M5/M6, too new

Wow, look what i have started, I thought it would be a new topic to talk about. And yes I know the BMW doesn't warranty Dinan stuff, but I was just too lazy write it all up. I have lots of Dinan stuff in the past but was never that impressed and the price killed me.
