Hood Vents-part 3
After seeing MSFITOY's hood vents/louvers, and then Bahamabart had his hood cut up for vents. I figured I would join in and do mine too.
My very good friend Scott, who owns Nutmeg Tool, blasted the holes with a plasma cutter! He followed a template I made of the vent. Can you guess what vehicle they are from? Should I leave them black? or Dark Silver?

sorry about the dark pics, I forgot to bring the camera to the shop. I still have to clean up the openings and smooth them up and add some screen, but I had to get my five year old home so we could carve a pumpkin.
I'll try to post some daytime pics tomorrow.

When we got done, Scott said we should rig something to shoot flames up out of them. I don't know about that.
are those from a Cayman/Boxster? i like them in black if you could reshape your hood stripes to integrate the vents in them would look awesome. or go with the DS an remove the hood stripes. look good though

Maybe a pinstripe coming off the main stripe to outline the vent?
I just had the black ones put on not that long ago, they replaced the silver ones which started to discolor.
I could also drive my paint guy crazy and paint it part black and part DS. He's already doing that with my M7 scoop.
BTW, not from a Cayman/Boxster.

I really like the look of those ( ....I think, as the pics are very dark). It makes me wonder why no one has added a scoop to the driver's side to feed cold air directly to the CAI.

Better pics later.
Welcome to the holes in the hood club
.
First they look great. Regarding paint, if you want to make them stand out less - paint to match your graphics.
Did you have to cut anything underneath? Did you replace the insulation?

Holes in the hood? or holes in the head? Is there a sig badge for that?
It's about time you chimed in here! I just might paint them part black, part DS.
Didn't cut anything underneath, the hood bracing runs right under the center hole, it got a little discolored, but will be hidden when I put the screen in. I'm debating on putting the hood insulation back in, I did cut the holes in it, but it's messy stuff.

I have a set of Z34 hood vents they are huge
and was thinking of taking the holes a step farther
but haven't gotten up the nerve.
.I never put mine back and never asked MSFITOY what he did. I was wondering if it was necessary to atleat put the rear section in to keep th etwo rear compartments sealed?

Agreed.
I've seen those, they are big. Just do it.
I don't think Sid has had it on since before the vents. Good point about the rear compartments, I might just do that.

Thanks. Good idea about integrating the stripes.

exactly right - subtle understated look. Those with sharp eyes will notice right away.
