I should have a airbox scoop to mess with soon.

My vents were installed just as that, to vent the hot air out while sitting still and after shut down.

I don't think I would try to send the air exiting the IC up and out through the hood. I would rather send it down to the header area and use the down draft that occurs to help pull it out.

Either way the air is going to go some place!

Once you got 1 small hole in your hood - its hard not to make'm bigger . I picked these up not knowing the dimensiones and when I took them out, I said holly SH#T. Left them in the box and was yapping to MSFITOY who said - lets see what ya got!

Here they are MSFITOY

If I install I will need to lose the window pissers - due to the existing holes but could relocate on pisser in the center.

Those would do the trick!
Just be careful on the depth of those, there is hood bracing in the pisser area.

That sounds cool.

Why don't you just fab a zoomie to come up and go into one, and bolt the turbo to that? You won't even have to put the cowl scoop on, you can just notch the hood like they did back in the day to clear a 6-71.

well im stil working out some details, but it might not come to a cowl anymore.

looking at some pics of the cars ive seen, i might try and put the turbo over where the airbox is currently and not have to move any of the bottles or containers bolted to the firewall.

Some of us old timer's know that punching louvers in a modern hood requires removing the hood support & the possibility of screwing the whole hood up.

The other possibility is to do something like Msfitoy, only have a panel made the to your spec. Want 140 louvers, 70 on each side? No problem. 10" wide? Maybe. Then - take the fabed panel & tig it on to the hood. Yes you need to respray but you would need to strip the hood before having louvers punched anyway.

I already nibbled my hood bracing to get the first set in. I have a feekling MSFITOY would say "SO whats a little more" . These suckers are steel and a heavy gauge - probably serve as vents and hood brace all in one .

I'm gonna have to make some templates to see if I am totally out of my mind. I figure if I really screw it up well time for a carbon fiber hood I was hoping not to be the first in the hood vent club to have to buy a second hood however seems like I am in the lead .

Not to worry, you're not #1 yet. It might be worth your while to take the vents you have & the car to a good metal person to have a little contour bent in to them. They look pretty flat & there is enough curve in the hood that they would distort the original shape too much.

I think Steve's right. If they are that heavy, they may distort the hood.
Try some from the hood on a '02 Viper GTS.

One thing I have noticed with hood vents installed is that the SC outlet horn doesn't feel as hot as it used to. I popped the hood as soon as I shut it down, and it was only a little warm.

Sid? Bart? You guys notice this?
