Nice but same delima...the Mini's line's are not square to the world...

Unless they are shaped like this, it will not look right on the bonnet...

After my last header install a few weeks ago, the anti-seize compound started to burn off during my test drive and the smoke was coming out of the louvers

I'm sure people thought my Mini was about to go up in flames The compound burned off in a few miles...

Still working on that. Have to consider the CAI too. Probably just cover it like the Alta, only do my own. Water will not drip on the headers because of heat shields.

My parts guy has a bonnet that was slightly damaged in shipping that they wrote off. It's on it's way to me now for the cost of shipping for my depraved ideas.

Right, and maybe shape them a little with some soft curves.

I can only imagine what you have in store for that hood.

So we should see "Hood Vents-part 4" soon?

Yes that is the way to go! Might have done them a little closer together though, and they don't look like something from Lowe's Home Improvement....

I think this was a fiberglass hood. Notice the louvers are those inward ones. As you suggest, the old school approach would require a louver press. I've asked around here with the custom rod guys - no joy. Oh well, it can be done, just costs $$. Still, I'd go for it if it were not for other mods in the way. Maybe some day.

Have fun!

there's a red M3 'vert near me that has a louvered hood on it.....proper frenched vents. It looks downright mean in the rear view. I'd rock this on a MINI if anybody did it right.

edit....looks to be a factory thing....M3 GTR

Could be a glass hood or CF, you know, if it's OE, you can have louvers punched either way......... It's too bad the old louver press has gone the way of American products, not here anymore.....
