Insulation for DFIC

I have had the DFIC for several months. I have noticed that the rubber insulation that attaches to the hood and sits on top the IC is peeling off from the hood. Also, when the hood is closed there is about a 1/8 inch gap between the top of the IC and the insulation. I obtained a second insulation strip from Peter and it seems like using two strips add more support and provides a better seal. Has anyone else had similar issues? What steps have you done to improve the insulation? The DFIC is one of my top three mods. The others are the 15% pulley and the Koni FSD shocks. The shocks and DFIC were installed by Central Coast Coopers in Oxnard, CA. Their service and expertise is

The closed cell foam that came with the DFIC peeled away from the bonnet on the left side, which is compressed more than the right side, which is closer to the center of the bonnet. I think the friction with the IC and engine movement cause the glue to peel away. I replaced it with a much larger piece of foam that is tapered to fit the space between the IC and the bonnet. I am also using my own diverter, which seals to the bonnet unlike the M7 diverter which doesnt seal.
I just installed the RBH-DF scoop and will post an image tomorrow from my server. It's about 4x the OEM scoop opening! Maybe I'll just call it the 4X-DF scoop.

Maybe now I'll feel more effect of the IC upgrade than I have previously.

Where can you purchase adhesive-backed closed cell foam? Do you have a picture of your own diverter?

My strip moved too.

I'm going to go to house of foam to ge3t something wider. The aspect ratio is too tall for the engine movement and the air presure against it. And remember, the SC side does get warm, and the glue gets soft as it heats....

There are also losts of little gaps saround the diverter that can be plugged up as well....

I just visited the House of Foam website. Which foam is the correct type for our needs?

Hi guy's....

I will have some 2" wide self adhesive foam available on Tuesday.
If you previously bought the DFIC from us, M7 will give you the part for
the cost of shipping. The new foam will be standard in future shipments.

We also decided that we are including black silicone boots and stainless steel
Allen head bolts for the clamps, free of charge with future shipments. If you purchased a DFIC and are the original owner, we will offer the Silicone boots and bolts for $15 + shipping..

The Water spray system is finally past the R&D stage, and will be available
in the begining of November. The sprayer is fantastic, it will allow a staged
water stream allowing more water were it's needed, and less were the cooler
charge air needs less, saving water. expected price will be $79.00

The new DFIC Ultimate grille will be available first week of November.
Matching the Ultimate front grilles in either black or silver, mounts in the
aluminum diverter. Price is to be expected at $69.00

Some of you have been asking for an exit scoop that will work properly with
the DFIC and we will deliver soon. The unit is modeled by JS and it will be a
striking design that will do what all of us been wishing for, superior flow thru the DFIC and better control of heat soak....

We are also looking in to some incredible thermal insulators that will cut down on heat soak on and around the IC....more coming soon.

The DFIC will now finally be a complete system IE. build it to your specification and needs.

And as always, if you have any questions or needs/ideas call us.

Peter, Is the new 2 inch wide foam tapered for a better fit than the last version? Many owners have noticed that the foam starts to peel away from the left side where the fit is tighter.

I have had the same problem as you guys - I added a softer foam strip in front of the original and even it ran it to seal up the sides of the DFIC intake.
While it is soft foam - it gets very compressed from the hood/DFIC and therefore works/helps.

Peter - yea, I'll be sending you and email to arrange new boots/foam strip.

Wish I'd thought of that
