What next? Need your help for future performance mods.

Hey , I have the Alta 15% pulley, a CAI and Milltek exhaust, so I think I have the right beginnings, what would be my next logical step or all of the below? I'm looking to stretch a little more performance but still a reliable daily driver ( if such a thing exists!! )

1)2% crank?
2)Alta Silicone intake tube, any probs hooking up the tube to my K&N set up? (see pic, larger one if needed in my gallery)
3)Also the Air diverter, what are the gains of this piece? Worth it?
4) Larger injectors?
5) Oil catch can is a for sure! Alta or M7?
6) Finally the Out Motoring stage 3 ignition upgrade? Or should this be first!?
7) Chip??? ECU upgrade?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with all of these things but would there be a logical piece by piece order? Am I missing something? Or wasting my money on a particular piece that would be better spent on something else? thanks guys

next step -

1) Ecu Upgrade - - see my thread on "ecu giac upgrade" - might help you select ecu reflash. If you want a piggyback type you should note in marketplace SpiderX is selling a unchip and will include program based on your mods which is an attractive deal.

You can do these at anypoint in time as $$ permit.
2) OCC - M7 for sure.
3) CAI pipe - samco is another brand option (www.myminiparts.com)
4) diverter - anything to help the IC more efficient helps recoop HP. A better scoop is proabably the best thing to do here.

Pass
4) injectors - pass.
5) 2% crank - tempting but long term verdict still out.
6) ignition - pass

ADD to the list

Header - a 200 header can add a few ponies and some nice noticeable mid range tQ which is useable.

But thats just how I would proceed.

Don't agree with anyone here!

But that's not the first time...... Get Supercharged! By corky bell. IT's about $25 or so, and will explain more about SCed cars, how they make power and the like. there are other books as well, but that's a good one.

And then I agree completely with, AGHHH!, CHOW4US, and save the $ and get the head. IF you add up your whole wish list, it's close to the same price. The head will really open up the motor. Then all those other items will get you more than they would without the head later....

Some other things to think of. Pretty much every OCC is a rip-off. Search around and someone came up with one that took less than $20 to build... I found the M7 clone (exactly the same as M7, but longer and no M7 logo) for $40 on eBay.

The air diverter will yeild real gains, but once again, there is a thread on how to build your own at a much lower cost. So if you're OK at putting things together, you may want to check those out....

Good luck,

Matt

I am no expert or mechanic, but for your engine's own safety, I recommend the ignition upgrade next, or at least getting some colder range plugs. I believe all the other mods you have mentioned are legit, except the OCC (there are several threads about this). Also look into a short shift kit.

Unfortunatley the mods you already have are amazing and pretty much every other bolt on available will give you a lot less hp gains for $$$. However if you wish to pursue a few more somewhat easy ponies, try out the OBX header and a 2% crank pulley. And get ready to become an addict; the aftermarket part addiction usually happens to everyone who has intake/pulley/exhaust and wants more power, including me.

Furthermore, you didn't mention anything about your suspension/brakes status. A stiffer rear sway bar is a must. A couple of my favorite mods are performance springs and low dust brake pads....but ohh there are so many options...

You can sometime find the RSpeed rear bar for $150 on ebay. It's 22mm and forged, which makes it the stiffest bar out there. It's also 3-way adjustable and is identical the the Webb Motorsports Preferred rear sway bar.

If you don't mind spending some extra cash, people also seem to love the H-sport competition bar. It's a 25mm hollow bar, which is said to be the equivalent of a 22mm solid bar. What really makes this bar nice is the grease fittings that make lubricating the bar a breeze.

You can read about them both here:

before you go any further on the engine, i'd recommend overhauling the brake system and the suspension.

Get a rear swaybar first. Lowering springs if you want as well.

Then get some SS brake lines, Motul RBF600 fluid and some Ferodo DS2500s. Stock rotors are fine, but if you want to upgrade, do.

Then i'd suggest having a look at the new Wegner head that's been released. Has certainly caught my eye....

The only reason I didn't bring it up is if your car doesn't suffer from yo-yo, you really don't need it.
