Helix to release m62 kit?

I just got done a late night blast with two MINIs and a EVO 9 (sick). I got it on very good authority that they are working on an M62 supercharger kit. Anyone else heard likewise? Eric?

That's awesome! This kit will most definitely probably have the enlarged throttle body as well!

Not that I am aware of. Gintani's kit will not just be a M62 conversion (and Im not talking about a charge cooler tacked on). May take some time to be released, but will for sure be THE kit to have.

If Eric is working on a M62, I am sure it will set the bar high, just like his TC kit has.

Good hearted capitalist competition is always the best scene for the law of the jungle.
May the best tuner win, becuase in the pursuit we all win.

I can't wait.

Eric and I had talked a few months ago about how to get even more power from my Mini (it's a sickness, really). If he's working on an M62 kit I have to wonder what it'd do when added to the TurboKompressor given that the OEM blower is underdriven in this application.

You bring up a good point. I can't wait till one of the TC guys swaps in an M62 with his Turbo. Now that would be something to see.

does the bigger supercharger eat up more horsepower than the stock one though? thats why the twin charge guys are going straight turbo. now it would be sick to have the money for a m62 and turbo kit both

I think that most of the power-seeking TC guys are just going straight turbo rather than bothering with the blower....but it would be interesting

From what I remember reading on the M62 kit, the bigger blower DOES draw more hp but gives back more, therefore the Net Gain is higher

Well the cat's out--at least partially. We are working not only on an M62 kit, but a series of stages of tune based upon that blower. I will release more information as we develop it, but we want to fully shake it down before we start taking orders, announcing pricing, etc. There are going to be some very trick parts with our kit--I'm pretty excited. We are going to do the development on my car, so for the moment, the TK kit will come off. Ultimately, I suppose curiosity will get the better of us and we'll bolt-n-tune the TC kit for the M62: whether or not that ends up being beneficial, we shall see.

This is what I have been waiting for! Kudos to Eric for testing it before selling it. I know Eric does a great job on all of his kits. Any ideas on pricing?

I hope my SC blows soon, so that I can rationalize the M62 kit. We will all be watching this thread. Keep up the good work, Eric.

Somewhere I read that our SC only goes for about 100k miles. I am already at 25k! I should replace that well before it breaks down. Then I would be stranded! (see, this is the type of rationalization that I use ) I will need an M62 certainly before I get to 30k.

Yeah, but.... (not to be a nay-sayer) it is already possible to overboost with the current twincharging setup, I would think that it would be a really bad idea currently to use both TC and the M62 at the same time, simply because you would definately need to do so much more work on the car to make it worthwhile.

You might be correct: time will tell whether there is a benefit in IATs without limiting total boost with the bigger blower. With our current TK kit we have gone with a larger blower pulley to keep IATs down. This limits peak boost to about 20.5 pounds with a stock cylinder head. If we can get a couple of more peak pounds plus have a better area under the torque curve, it may be worth it.

This is great news for sure.

Helix, glad to hear your working on and doing M62 research
Relieved that there will be other resources for this configuration, custom sized pulleys shouldn't be a problem.

By the way Eric, what does Helix13mini, what does that 13mean?

All of this extra power....isn't there a limit to the internals of this engine...i mean how much can we really throw at the rods, pistons, and crank before something terrible goes wrong? Have we got HP limits recorded for our motors? What is the breaking point?
