Yep, Pam and I were coming back from a similar outing and the temp was finally a relatively cool 78 degrees here.

I had no choice but to floor it in the cooler weather to see what it was like now.

Pam said, "Wow. You've got this thing really tuned to go fast, don't you?"

That was about as big of a compliment/complaint as I've heard from her.

And she rode in my 03 MCS (84k miles) which in some ways was much more modified.

I'm lovin' it.

FWIW - My previous MCS had the GRS, and other additional mods. However this one differs in although it has fewer mods, it does have the m7 head and dfic...

Before:

GRS IC, at 73-76 F, registered max boost of 15 lbs, per AutoMeter gauge which saves the peak. I did this last week, as noted here (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...3&postcount=18).

After:

DFIC, at 75-78 F, after zeroing the peak on the gauge, also got exactly 15 lbs!
=====

So, compared to the GRS, there is no delta in max boost; which pleasantly surprised me. I also used my CarChip E/X to log data, and I'll next download that data to see what kind of IAT's I got before, and after. Given the power I felt coming-out of turns here in the canyon, and the tires breaking loose easier, I'm quite certain I'm getting a cooler charge, which one would expect...

I'll report back on some IAT's later...
Clearly, I need to check or replace my rubber boots for I have dropped pressure - about a 1.5lbs.

Is there any chance you did a test with Extreme scoop + GRS intercooler? I would be curious to see how much the scoop improves on the GRS. THanks.

Edit: NM, found the answer, thanks guys.

Bart, I didn't lose any boost as compared to the GRS. Maybe compared to your IC (GTT?), you did indeed. I still have the stock boots. I did file-down the brackets a bit so I would get a little more bite, but I really don't think that was needed...

The CarChip E/X also captured boost (manifold pressure), and it too showed peak boost very comparable to the GRS.

camelpilot, glad you found the info on the GRS with Extreme Scoop. Welcome back!

Point taken - GRS / GTT but I am still suspect. Whil ethe car pulls strong i feel there is somethng not 100%. I have already checked my boost guage connections and they look good. The boots/brackets look right but aftermarket boots are a ***** to put on. I hate having the doubt so this weekend I will pull it all off and re-install.

I want my 1.5lbs back

Too bad you still didn't have the GTT for another check, at the same ambient temp. Hope all works-out for you!

I just don't have any of the test equipment.

However all of the data Matt has on the GTT, came from my car. Matt sent me his toys . Once matt gets a DFIC to test he will be able to add the data to all of the other data he has which should provide a lot of meaningful discussiones.

Well due to your testing and positive words of the DFIC over the GRS I called and ordered one yesterday.

I got it with the black heat disapating coating on it with some special coating on the bottom to reflect heat. Also since I hate waiting for stuff to be painted I am having M7 paint my scoop for me. They tell me to expect to wait 7days to 2 weeks (due to coating and painting time) for it to ship. I can't wait.
