DFIC w/ Heat Dispersant & Ceramic Coatings

If I understood White Roof Radio correctly, I think this is the first one with the heat dispersant coating. Just took it out of a very well-packaged box, and this thing looks mighty cool, especially in black!

I'll be working from home on Friday, so it will have to wait until then, unfortunately. Just thought I would share...

Pre-install images somehow removed... Here are couple installed:

Gorgeous piece of work! The heat-dispersant coating is the same as the ceramic coating?

Can't wait 'til you conduct your testing!

The black is stunning! The photo doesn't do it justice...

The ceramic coating on the bottom (goldish color) is to reflect heat from rising into the DFIC. The black dispersant coating is to extract the heat from within. At least that is how I understand it...

Nice work Peter!

I didn't realize the dispersant coating was an option. The black is absolutely stunning!

Friday is so far away! Can't you sneak into the garage to install it right NOW?!?

The main draw-back of getting this house in the canyon was that I need to construct a garage still...

While I'll be doing some testing, nothing to the degree of Dr O. I'll be able to provide a pretty accurate boost delta, and a not as accurate IAT info (CarChip E/X samples at 5 sec intervals). Yes, I still have it (the CarChip unit), and when I sell it, it will be to you .

Well, back into the box...

Ohhh yeahh Tony...

The heat dispersant coating has been a test only option, as we really do not know if it's as good as some has said. We also added our new super ceramic coating, which is a very dense heat rejecting coating mostly used on top of pistons.
Looking forward to some serious testing from my main man....

Nothing like running a long power cord outside for a spotlight to make the neighbors wonder what you're up to.

Thank you for the thought! I was eager to begin logging, so I managed to acquire a CarChip E/X. The new ones with part number 8221 are able to log data with 1 sec resolution, so it should be quite useful. I was informed that any CarChip E/X with part number 8221 is firmware upgradeable to allow logging at 1 sec intervals.

I'd be more than happy to lend you my CarChip for your testing purposes if you prefer better sampling resolution - I think the NAM community would appreciate that as well, too.

Ok, where do I see if mine is an "8221"? 1 second would be very nice! Glad you got one...

Neighbors here are like football fields away, so no biggie regarding lights. I just don't like the bugs!

Now that DFIC I wouldn't mind having. Looks as good as it works. I'm not a big fan of shiny, chrome looking engine parts. That thing is awesome.

You gonna let a few bugs get in your way? This coming from the guy that did not let the battery box get in the way of his exhaust .

I know what the metal piece to the left of the DFIC is but what is the foam looking thing in front of the DFIC? The scoop can be painted right? How much more does this "Super Ceramic Coating" cost Peter?

Bart, if I can get home early, I'll install it tonight. Don't think it will happen though. I'll just relax and do it Friday...

The foam strip goes up top, at least I believe. I'll find-out soon enough. The scoop can be painted, and seems to be primed for such already... Ya, the living room coffee table has a few wedding photos under the glass top. I never would have thought 60 bucks of glass would make her so happy!

Hey, mine is on and it's the one that counts in my book!

You just cracked me up and made me bust out laughing - battery box = no problem, bugs = problems.

Best laugh I have had all day .

The part number of the CarChip should be prominently displayed on the packaging, but if that's not an option to you, try contacting Davis Instruments' tech support at 510-732-7814 or support@davisnet.com. The lines are open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PST. I spoke with a person there whom I suspect was an owner, and he was very helpful in answering my questions. He also stated that most of his customers are not performance-oriented and prefer not to log data in 1-second intervals, so he was amused that there's quite a few local people who are using his products for performance evaluation.

If your model doesn't support 1-second interval logging, I'll be happy to loan you mine.

Bart my man, I hate working on my car outdoors on a Summer evening with mosquitos and/or bitting flies to contest with. Those suckers seem to know when your hands are full, or when you are in some awkward postion that you can't nail them

Man, I miss having a garage! I've got one on paper though, but it's pending (contingent upon) a house remodel though...

latte hiatus, thanks much! I have the paperwork on my CarChip E/X in my nightstand, so I'll do the correct download tonight. Thanks again.
