Drivetrain Megan Header experiences
While we all pursue the "best" - I haven't seen that one is superior to the other in anyway. I think the decision on which one tp buy is driven by these two components -
1) theory of 4-2-1 desin compared to 4-1 design.
2) the different flex joint designs.
I don't think either is a regret, the regret would be not to header up for 200 bucks

well today i fixed everything and it all seems to be working well...i have just one more question...i noticed that the check engine light came on which im told is normal due to no cat but the traction control light is now also always on and i can't turn it off...any reason for this??
yeah my whole experience with this header has been strange...nothing really ligned up, took about 4 hours to get it all on and still fits weird, sounds good but doesnt seem any faster, and now that light is on...im considering puting the stock back on and ordering an obx
My little dose of LITHIUM

A header on a MINI is rarely a HP maker...
why not
cartar452, read this;

Repacing both MAP sensors fixed mine. First thing to do is pull the codes.
DrPhil, with the same brush your painting SuperSprint.
As for the 4-2-1 OBX and mid range, there is a + difference.

And you're surprised? There are literally hundreds of posts that would lead you to conclude that the lack of measurable HP is not surprising at all. Without head mods, or properly designed headers, which OBX or Megan or many others for that matter are not, you will be lucky to get a pleasant increase or improvement in sound (which is personal preference, I'll admit--a guy with a Celica GT next to me last week declared my MINI with Megan to "... sound like *****".)

For this size engine, I do not expect ANY header to be a major contributor to HP.
While I did not independently measure the effect of adding a OBX header, others have and while the HP gains were minimal the TQ gains were more noteable. I gain noticeable SOP TQ gains when I addded the OBX header - the car pulled stronger/earlier on in the power band.
Having said that I differ that the OBX/SS is not "properly designed" (I am not saying it's the best design). I would like to know what brand you consider to be a properly designed header for the Mini?
Here you go

i havent posted alot but there is a $4-5 fix for the o2 sensor problem, been doing it for years starting with my spec-v, then my 240, and if i go catless ill do in my mini wich i probobly wont for fear of sounding like a civic
1. go to your local parts store get some sparkplug non-foulers, usually the 18mm version
2. 1/2 drill one of them so the o2 sensor will fit
3. put the undrill one in the bung, the drilled one behind that, then the o2 sensor in the drilled one,
yeah it makes it stand out, but i drove for 2 years on each car this way, it pulls the o2 sensor out enough that it "tricks" the ecu into thinking there is a cat there, and it wont even mess up the a/f's either

i am on my 2nd meagan header now..... blown flex pipe 2 times. new motor mounts after the first time. i have ALTA 2.5 exhaust, sounds awsome. but i'm not very happy with the same problem happening twice
I like the design of the Megan, the only thing that scares me is that i read so many bad things! (fitment and cracks)
