I just have to jump into this post. I must say that M7 is doing alot of interesting things for Mini owners excited about their minis. Although I wish I could have seen Don's Peral white mini in person - someday - .. Cheers ~

I am not sure if CARB requiremnts apply to exhaust. I may be mistaken but honestly this is the first timem i have seen those two words linked together .
We will be offering an additional inline resonator for intro price $50 for those that want a quieter system. The extra piece is intended for the convertable owner's primarily as any aftermarket exhaust sounds louder on the Cabrio. As for your in car eating habits , damn you are talented

Hey Randy,

I took my other car to get smogged the other day at a Test Only shop and the tech was mentioning that one of the first things they look for is a modified exhaust if the car does not pass. Sooo, I thought I would ask. Thanks!

I may try to start linking other words that typically don't go together, it may be fun...significant other + reasonable

Interesting fact and I will look into it more . I have a friend out here in the " smog mafia " and i will see whats up. Based on what you were saying it seems as if they only look if the car doesnt pass not as a way to not pass the car. Perhaps some that have removed their cat in addition to the new exhaust are causing the test failure and the tech is lumping that in with the modified exhaust . There was also one well known header and cat combo that was being sold which had a OB1 cat which caused many problems and perhaps he had run across one of those setups as well. All in all good info and bears looking into , thanks again

When y'all get one of the "Quieter" systems installed, any chance of a sound clip of that one?

Regardless, the M7 exhaust looks and sounds great!

Thx

I have it installed and hope to have some vid shot today or tomorrow to get you some sound clips.

I am really surprised how smooth and quiet it is during cruising. Don't worry, it is still louder than stock but when you push on the throttle it really opens up but there is no notice of droning in my opinion which was my biggest worry.

I heard the system yesterday and it has the deepest tone I have ever heard (on a MIni) ......it is very smooth.....this was at stand still from Idle to revs up to about 4k..... this was at an Atlanta Minis event with about 6-7 othe Mini enthusiasts around .... I did not ride in the car or hear a drive by but all signs are that it is pretty nice......

i'm going ahead on this system, hope it doesn't disappoint me! any more vids or sound clips that i may not be aware of (i only have the one from this thread)

what you guys think of black tips on a JB/B car? or should i just go with the more traditonal chrome tip? cause my friend said i may get bored of a black tip very fast, but it does seem very unique and aggressive. but i'm also concern about it being looking cheap? any opinions?

I jusst installed my M7 exhaust last night and I have been very impressed with the power. I noticed the torque right off the bat. However, it is probably the loudest exhaust I have heard on a MINI. I do have an OBX header on it with the factory cat though. Not that the loud is a bad thing, it sounds great and are the best sounding pipes I have heard on a MINI. The system was made very well and you can see a lot of time went into making it. My only issue was the hangers near the middle of the car were too long and I had to cut the ends of them off because they were touching the exhaust tunnel on both sides and causing a bad rattle. Once those were ground off, no issues at all!

Good Morning.....

The hanger issue has been solve IE. we narrowed the parts a bit for more
clearance. As for loudness, the decision was to have a very sporty tone
for the rabbid enthusiast and as an option we can offer a matching resonator cutting down the tone to a cell phone friendly level.

Black tips or not...... I absolutly love the black tips, it's sexy, cool, unusual
and it will never go out of style. As a matter of fact the idea come from a car
I saw thirty years ago, it was a Maserati, red with black exhaust pipes...wow.

OK- Video I cannot provide since my camera is shot but pictures I can do. Here are some shots of the sexy black tips.

Sorry for it being in the garage but I am frankly not in the mood to leave the house after a long day for a picturesque scenery.

Let me know if you want anything else with your order

like that? people laugh when they see the MINI with Truck tags.

Actually in SC they are considered commercial plates but have left the Truck designation on them. You can get them for any vehicle that is a Truck, SUV or hatchback of any type. Pretty cool since I can park in loading zones int he city and not get ticketed....

Returning to the original subject....

What happened to the m7 exhaust? Was there some flaw discovered in these earliest versions? Why don't we see exhaust options among the current m7 products for the 02 - 06 cars or the later cars?? Peter?

It's being marketed by another company.

http://www.powertone.com/exhaustsystems/index.html

I'm still going to get it because I just love the note and tone of this exhaust. Youtube it. The videos are rare but they sound just too sweet.

There is nothing wrong with the M7 / Powertone systems . The ending of the relationship was a mutual one and based only on a marketing decision. I would not hesitate to by a system from them for any reason.

I had one and the only downside about it is the drone at highway speeds. Other than that it is one very very mean sounding exhaust.
