Just how safe is the MCS + 15% RP..

OK... I would like to know if anyone (especially vendors since they sell the pulleys)
knows what the AFR is with the 15% pulley.
I know the MCS runs rich from the factory.. running rich keeps EGT's down and things safe. But now I added an intake and a 15% RP. So has anyone verified that the Air Fuel Ratios are still within safe limits? Can the MAP comphensate for the extra fuel and air and keep the AFR from going lean?
My car is stock except for pulley, intake and exhaust (cat-back). I want to be sure I don't need programming, etc... Thanks

Yeah, the 15% pulley has been pretty much tested to death.

I understand this.. but was looking to see how safe the A/F ratio was at WOT and how much it changed from stock. Would like to understand if there are any lean conditions that might be of concern.
I would also like to smooth out the throttle response too.. was thinking about looking at some software.. ideas?

It is my understanding that the ecu is adaptive to the AFR ratios. So unless you tinker with the ecu or add another fuel controller it will always run rich until you are overloading the injectors. And that won't be a problem unless you go 19%.

Of course this is just from reading other posts on this board, so take it as is. As always a search is your best option.

Risu... thanks.. I am wearing out the search option
I see lots of pepole saying everything is fine.. but I wonder if anyone has done a real analysis on this. Would be nice to see the real numbers and then konw if additional software, injectors, etc.. would enhance the performance..
Thanks for your response!

Everything is fine with what you are doing... but IF you install the JCW injectors & IF the dealer would install the JCW software.... you would end up with the best possible solution. Would the dealer install the software? Not a chance.
There is plenty of software available & the injectors are a stock item. You will need to research the software for a package that suites your needs.
Good luck & have fun..

Zero reported 15% pulley engine failures. Hell, zero reported 19% engine failures for that matter. 1000's of them on the road-- a testiment to BWM engineering and the MINI's ECU fuel maps.

Some one else's numbers would be worthless to you because each car is just different enough to make a difference. I'd recommend you pay for a dyno session and record your numbers for your piece of mind. Then you could be absolutely sure.
