New ECU reflash to hit market soon!?

Does anyone have anymore information on the new Fireball Tim ECU reflash? All I have heard is that it will be here within a month, it will be a reflash and not a piggyback. Questions:

1. Change rev limiter?
2. Change top speed limiter?
3. Change DSC?
4. Mod specific?
5. Cost?
6. Fuel ratios / HP gains / Torque gains / Warranty / South Bay MINI friendly????

IMO having a new reflash with local support will be great for the MINI community.

Local support?

Only if you live in LA.....

Check out the meyns (sp) tuning (in Az) details for what I would guess are hints.... But this isn't the place to get details. El Dablito is the one on point, so post at the FBT forums for more direct communications. El couldn't give you answers here if he wanted to!

Read FBT's last post. he said he's going to market to all MINI dealers (at least his cars). Whether or not they will sell his ECU reflash is another question but that begs the question as to his relationship with MINI.

Sure...

for his Fireballed CARS. Can you see Mini selling items that work better than JCW stuff for a lower price? And for the dealers to sell it, it would need CARB (at least in CA). And how to upload/download the maps?

Last I heard, the emphasis was on a tune to compliment a cam under developement..... But that was about a month ago, and time can move quickly....

Thats why I said its begs the question as to his relationship to MINI. Some dealers clearly have relationships with MiniMania and other outfits ... I can see the same thing happening many at the local level is he aggresivly tries to market to individual dealers.

Some other stuff to ponder....

Mynes (got the spelling right this time) is all over the FBT website, so there's some relationship there. Check out this link to see what they offer.

i like...

... the availability of a personal tune to allow larger injectors without using a piggyback system... it would be amazing if i could use much larger injectors without having to fool my ecu... If they had a shop in Jersey i would be all over this when i get my T/C, if that includes with the 75 extra that they personally run it on the rollers to get a nice A/F and get the ecu to understand my larger injectors etc... If thats part of it, i dont think the price is too high, if not....ehhhh

I want someone to develop an ECU that me, the user, can tune if I chose to. Something like say a Unichip but with the added option of user tunability. Or even a reflash, but something that I can tune on the dyno if I wanted to. Yes, I want to tune my own car on the dyno.

I concur, but that will never happen; this might be the next best thing?

It would be great if they used one of the following:
AEM
ECUTEK
LINK
MOTEC
EFI

Don't say never. There is a very powerful tool being developed now that, if things work out, will be a piggyback that is user programmable for timing and fuel delivery, at least. I'm told that there's a lot of research already done and things like connectors are currently being arranged, so if it matters, I am holding my breath .

Don't say never, I read somewhere that the FBT software will be user tuneable... This is already possible on other cars with Piggybacks like EcuTek, U-Tec, Hondata K-Pro, Crome Pro, Motec, AEM, etc. Also, the new Unichip is supposed to allow some parameters (like 2-3) to be user tuneable. I just want these products to come out soon!

sorry...

I am just very jaded when it comes to mini ecu's. It seems every other car has products that allow complete user tunability, and we have to settle for flashes made for another car with just comparable mods. If these products actually come to fruition i will be excited, but until then, i'll keep my gloomy perspective.

I would love to be proved otherwise!

According to FBT, their unit will be a reflash and NOT a piggyback.

Woops your right, but it's still supposed to be user tuneable...

soul coughing, we're all hoping that someone finally releases something that WE, the consumers, want...

El Dablito and FBT are no longer on speaking terms so I would not look to him for any info on FBT.

Well,

it sure sounds like the code has been cracked! Now we just have to hope that someone will create a package for self tuning..... And access to all the juicy bits of the ECU code, including the drive by wire stuff, and the temp that thows a code with the M7 thermostat....

Wait and see, wait and see....

Wouldn't that be something - right on the eve of the 2007 new models.

Those you have listed there do not support our drive by wire MINI's. If you look into Hydra, last I heard they were helping Alta develope a full stand alone ECU for our MINIs. I'll see what some of my sources unveil.
