Drivetrain MCS on dyno
MCS on dyno
Dyno'd the car today, got pretty surprised as I only have an Alta CAI and a custom 3" cat-back. I have an 03 so it should have 163hp OEM, I got 186.67hp, at least if you trust the dyno. Just wanted to share.
186.67hp@ 6500RPM / 148.85whp @ 6500RPM

Yeah it's dirrty, screw you!

Why did they say it was 148 at the wheels?
At 186 you should be looking at 160~ whp?? Looks like their corrrection factor is 7-% ish.
How close to sea level are you?
Good numbers though, very cool.

What correcton factor are they using? If you put down 146 to the wheels and using the standard correction factor for a FWD car(12% driveline loss) you should be about 165bhp?
bhp*.88=whp
bhp=whp/.88
166=146/.88
?? Just curious. Also 165 from just a CAI is much more reasonable. In reality these things are worth maybe 1-2whp. The sound factor is cool, but performance is minimal. Don't get me wrong, it was the first mod on my car.

Just saw that you have the 3" catback too. Still decent numbers. I haven't dyno'd mine yet. I really do all this car mod stuff for the fun/therapy of working on my car not to see how much faster I can make it over stock. It's about personalization. I will be dynoing for the first time next weekend and am curious to see what I get. Just hoping more than my buddies VR6 GTI!!

I would be best if we had the cars Dynoed when we picked them up, them as we do thing get them done again to gauge what has changed ...
Regardless what the BHP vs. WHP is, you would know with your mods are you making more at the wheels that before or NOT , which is where is counts...

all dyno's read differently. the data from one is useless without a baseline run on a stock car (preferably your own). and using calculated number at the crank is very VW'ish at best. whp is where it's at people.
