New Headers out on Market?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8070567727

Two piece header with test pipe. Should be easy to give the test pipe to a muffler shop to have them make a matching cat section with flanges. Has anyone tried this header? It looks very complete with hardware and gaskets, and it's very affordable. I have no idea what brand it is. It does not look like the low price leader OBX.

Looks like the Megan, the version with the removable resonator section.

Or maybe not.....it looks very similar but I think the Megan has a much heavier head flange.....

I was looking at them both the e-bay one and the Megan, and the Megan uses 2.5" pipes and the e-bay uses 2.25" and the Megan one is only $30 more than the e-bay, it's not a fantastic money saving buy. I think I'll get the Megan and that $60 cat I saw somewhere.
---- Actually I just wernt onto Outmotoring.com and they have the Megan Header for $199, even cheaper than e-bay!

That sure looks like a Megan, Even down to the logo bracket on the pipe. BTW the Megan is 2 1/4 not 2 1/2. I bought one on EBAY that stated that it was 2 1/2 but after installing I remeasured the ID of the pipe as 2 1/4.

Also I just had to replace this header due to a break in the flex pipe. I only had about 500 race miles on this header when this happened. I called Megan, explained what was happening. As I live near their warehouse we took it in and they replaced it.

Not hating on you folks, but I would be hard pressed to ever buy a performance part for my Mini on Ebay. You guys are truly brave.

Brave maybe. But Megan is located in So Cal, in the City of Industry. They are a fairly large firm designing parts/importing for alot of imports. I must say they took care of me with the problem I had. Now, I do all my own work so I don't pay for labor install.

Here are some pics showing the pipe size a tad larger then 2 1/4, the area of the flange that I remove material from. The stock flange is OK for normal use and works OK with the gasket that Megan gives you. If you use the stock MINI header gasket you can remove the additional material and get better flow. The red area is what I remove. The Megan logo.

rpterson - Do you think that your Megan failure was a fluke? Or do you think that the flex joint will fail again?

I think it was a fluke, as Megan was surprised as well. I know of one other flex joint that had failed from a prior post.

Just a question, have you upgraded the engine mount bushings?
I'm wondering if the OEM one's allow to much movement.
Good to see somebody else that does their own work
