good ideal...it looks kinda funny. to me it looks like it wouldnt really get a "spraying" effect, but more of a squirting effect.

I was thinking of using a soaker hose - LOL. Seriously, though, I bet a person could use flexible copper or aluminum refrigeration line with VERY small drill bits to make a pretty cool (pun intended) sprayer.

You wouldn't need to drill, you could just use the misters that they sell to cool off patios

they also make some "mist-er" connections for watering plants on a timed machine.....it lets out a very fine mist.

If you were at Home Depot you should have gone to the garden section and picked up some 1/4" black irrigation tubing. Much smaller footprint and they have small misting nozzles. Different spray patterns also!

Seriously...I'm interested in doing something like this just because....lol. How do you make it work, how would I make it work, and where did you run, and how did you run the line for the water? Instructions would be awesome. Maybe this will be my first DIY project just for fun. I don't ever race, so it would in sense be useless to me...but still fun! haha

Oh, and how would I run the water (from the windscreen sprayer I'm guessing? With just water?) so that I could JUST spray the IC, not the entire car (ie. Headlamps, and front&rear windscreens)?

MCSG - MINI Cooper S Ghetto lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one who bought car parts from the Depot yesterday.

Most just use the headlight washer system as the res and pump method.

If you don't have the xenons - a washer pump at autozone is like $5 and a few feet of hose, wire and a momentary on switch and you've got it!

just a heads up. If you dont have xenons, you dont have a resevoir on the driver's side....just the windshield one which is on the passengers side. Only xenon fitted cars come with the driver's side resevoir. It can be purchased through your dealer, or even from mini madness (for one of their cooling related mods).

Just a few questions: what is the source of the water? What and where is the reservoir? How do you control it?

I was going to go and purchase the parts tomorrow.....any chance on an update? I need to know what to buy, how much work is invovled (if it's even worth it really), where/how to run the stuff, etc.

And where do you get a "punch" switch, and how/where do you mount it!?

Thanks a ton! New pics would be awesome too when you get a chance!
-Cody

Edit* My idea was to get small black flexible tubing from the gardening section, approx. 1/2" diamter or smaller, and drill holes in the tubing, which will be all around the IC. I then would run that into a tank of water of some sort.....then hook up a button (your "punch" button I guess) then I should be good! Hopefully it will cover the whole IC, but how do I get it to "spray" more than "squirt"?

You can pick up a momentary switch from radio shack, the come in packs of two and have several options (including jet fighter cover)

Curious as to why not use vaccum line for the plumbing, I imagine it would cost less than $8 at that point, but cool idea and good job of putting it into practce.

Mine doesnt srpay, it squirts solid 1/16th of and inch streams.

It covers better thand it covers faster than a mist does.

wouldnt mist be better for the cooling properties though? or am i mistaken that its the evaporation that helps lose heat?

How do you have the button ran so when you press it, it release's the water? And how do you/can you set up the button and water. Ie. hold the button done for aslong as you want, or hit the button once....it's on a timer, say 3sec?

And how does your tubing "squirt" the water all over the IC? Where did you drill the holes so the water will come out. And how did you run the tubing into the resivor? I was thinking of rigging up a standard bottle somewhere, and having the tube getting water from there. This would save the water for the windows to...or would this just be absoutly pointless?

So you're spraying windshield washer fluid onto the intercooler? Isn't that what's in the windshield washer fluid reservior? Or do MINIs use water on the windshield because they're so special?

I was just reading on another thread of someone using a soft plastic reservior sourced from a Nissan truck - might have a pump built in & may be easy to fit in somewhere, maybe behind the "firewall" on the passenger side?
