I would appreciate it if people would refrain from nay-saying and attempts at humor. This really isn't all that funny, and I would like to see the MINI community come together and make a Gumball 3000 WINNING MCS, not bash and make fun at the people who want to.

Woah easy, Mikey. 200mph MINI would be a beautiful thing. And I bet that this community will make it happen.

Just joking around with the video.

Remeber the question was asked is it possible, and there are those that say no it isn't. It is all that can be expected, it is something that has never been done before. I'm not the least bit suprised that there are nay-sayers; but I still think it can be done.

Anything is possible, but with the MINI's aerodynamics, it's going to take some major power to get there.

Amen.
Science. Physics. Forget them.... Pool some cash and then bam u have passed 200 mph.

200 MPH WILL BE ACHIEVED.....

I dont think it an issue of being able to do it but rather run thousands of mileage continuosly at speed reliably. With enough money, you could probably make a pig fly. Whether the pig could continue to fly for 3000 with falling is another question

Why don't we just try twin turbo?

That will solve this problem quickly...

And if it won't...keep adding nitrous till it does! *evil laugh*

yeah no doubt... I was going for about 5 mins .... covered about 10 or so miles...heh heh it was pretty funny

the mini motor is very stout... it's cast iron block alows for much abuse and it's internals are quite strong as well.... but 650 HP for more than a 1/4 mile at a time ...yeah yer gunnah need to build the motor...Rods, Pistons, head...OH MY!

Correct. There is a huge difference between doing it 1/4 mile at a time vice 500 miles at a time. You need the car built to be reliable in everything ... for the duration ... not a simple task.
