19% Pulley Installed

Wow is all I can say, its such a dramatic improvement over stock, I didnt know what I had been missing.

at 2k RPM in second gear, i'm at about 10-11 psi, i had to push it right up to the redline to get anywhere near that before!

Oh yeah, I installed it without a pulley puller or a belt tentioner tool, I made both of them myself, so the total pulley install cost just over $115 for me! Thats bang for your buck right there!

We beat up the stock pulley a bit though, that sucker is on there good!

Now, do they sell one smaller that 19? lol

not-so-rednwhitecooper... glad to hear the great feedback on the 19%...
I'll be sharing the same "WOW" enthusiasm very shortly, as i am ordering the 19% (including GIAC + injectors + Milltek Ex.) through Helix today

Hey Rick does your boost gauge go up high enough for the 19%

I got the 19% + GIAC a few weeks ago from Helix (I have the JCW). It is absolutely amazing what a difference they make! I can pull about 17lbs of boost now. All I need is some better gripping tyres (than my run-flats) to actually be able to use all the power I've got.

I have a question about the pulley's. What does the % mean? It it that much smaller than stock? And which pulley is the best to replace altinator/crank or both?

Hmm... after reading a few other threads, something got me wondering.

Is it safe to run the car to redline while drag racing with a 19? Its only for a few seconds between shifts with maybe 10 minutes cool down time between run.

Edit:

Ive got my shift light set at just over 6k now just to be safe until i find out the max i should rev the car with the 19.

Has anybody with a 19% said that?

I'm sure it's fine. When they say that you shouldn't run a 19% at redline, they mean consistently at redline which can only be done at a track, not a dragstrip unless you decide to run a dragstrip in only 1st or 2nd, but then why would you be at the dragstrip?

No, the 19 gives the engine an ungodly boost in horsepower for the money spent invested.

Haha, I just wanted to make sure. I'm a worrier, as soon as I read something, I get all paranoid until someone tells me otherwise.

there is another thread on here about someone mis aligning the supercharger shaft on the install, not sure how much force you used on taking of the stock pulley but it might be something worth keeping an eye on. have fun with the new pulley

Is there a certain mileage that you guys are waiting to hit before putting on the pulley? I have just over 2k and have already got an alta intake and Quicksilver exhaust. Im killin myself over here not putting on a pulley yet, worried about my mileage!

I dont think it really matters what mileage you put the pulley on at.

I put mine on rather late (48k miles) but ive only owned it since 36k, and it was babied prior to that, so I felt it was safe.

it shouldn't matter...

when you put on the pulley. i just waited til 10K so i could get all the bugs out of the car and im glad i did because it had its share of warranty work. I think the "max" redline of the supercharge with a 19 is about 6500 or around there. I've had the 7200 rpm redline since the giac (at 15K) and still spin up to it once and a while. I'm not too worried about damaging the S/C as its about 300 to replace and I'm gonna get a 10% larger than stock pulley when i go twincharged.

If all goes as planned, I'll have a 19% on by the end of the week, and I'm sitting at 83,000 miles :impatient

No problems running the 19%er up till redline like you would on the drag strip. Although I haven't run it on the strip yet (waiting 'till I turn 18) I have run it up till redline like you would at the strip. In fact, I've even kept it at around 4500-5000 in an off-ramp. Basically, to snap the belt you have to really ride the supercharger at high RPMs for a while. You'll be fine at the drag strip, I'm going in August with new tires, I'll be sure to post my experience if you haven't already done it by then...

EDIT: I bought the car used with 30k and I installed the pulley at about 34k and i'm now at about 39k, no problems so far...

Damn, you've waited long. You'll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner.

Hi 19% owners.
Just a question about durability. Have you been en-route with highspeed for longer? Let me say driving with about 145 mph for about 15 minutes?
What about the oil temperature? Charge-air temperature? Does DME reduce Power due to high charge-air temperature?

I second that question above - how did you remove that pulley?
