So who wants to put an end to this debate? I'm willing to go a head and give it a try, surely there have to be a few others out there who would like to. We just need to come up with a detailed plan and start seeking sponsors. I'd be shooting for things like boneville, and the Open Road Challenges in the SW, to verifiably prove it can be done. Yes, there will be obstacles but thats why there is such a discusion going on already. And I think it can be done in such a way that it will look like a MINI and have a MINI heart and cost much less than a Ferrari.

Damn, 260's pretty good (161mph) I couldn't get my A3 (220hp AWD) over 249khp (154mph)
And are ALL US MINI's governed? We had a German holiday a few weeks back and on the empty Autobahn I managed to hit 141mph (226kph) indicated on the digital display but it really didn't have much breath left

non are governed...its aerodynamical and power related...cuz its a brick u need power to keep you accelerating at those speeds...with enough power and if you run on the petrol you guys have, like i said in a diff thread, take it to a dyno, you will hit mechanical limits..over 150 for sure..

You guys are thinking too small. Shame on you all.

Why bother bickering about aerodynamics when you can just press a button at 150+ mph and make the electronic wings extend. Switch out the exhaust to blow out jet blasts like Tuls' does, and you've got yourself a government military threat.

The factory has already supplied us with a flight yolk steering wheel... and I bet it does a lot more than turn left and right.

I'll try to clear this with the Federal Aviation Administration, but I should be able to pull some strings and get us MINI flight clearance. I'll use the small size of our aircraft as an arguement. The FAA is so picky about large flying objects...luckily we'll be fine.

*salutes*

Men... and women... prepare for liftoff.

T minus five,
Jonathan

Well that certainly solves your aerodynamic problems.

That won't be controllable in flight, unlike my idea , but if you point the wings to create a little downforce, that should work great.

Okay, let's use that car, take out the rear seats, seal off the front passenger compartment, put a 24 cylindar in the back, and watch our baby make us cry in joy.

Oh! One more thing! Can we use these tires? PLEASE!!!

Thank you!

Spillman has the SPI kit on and also some sort of nitrous kit on his MCS...you can only imagine how much fun he has. I talked to him at MOTD; he has some amazing stories that we probably can't discuss here on NAM.com

OKAY... ANYWAY...

I have been banned from the internet a mi casa so the only time i have is at school... Hey I can only have so much AP Statistics pumped in per day.

Okay I want to clarify some things...

This will more than likely be done with an '07+ MCS. I believe this model will be more performance capable, and have an easier time getting power with it's turbo setup than the Twincharged or SCed version of the current model. Like I said before I went on a hiatus, the goal is to win the Gumball. The fastest I have seen anyone in any gumball documentary go was Kim's 246kmh in 6 Days in May, in his Mercedes CL. That's really fast. Most people don't even get up to those speeds. We are close to that speed RIGHT NOW with the current MINI. Again I think 170-180 is a better goal. I also was thinking of the GETRAG awd setup like many of you have mentioned.

I only want to have a few sponsorships. Maybe a dealer to donate the car, which im thinking will be a bare bones MCS except for the nav and couple other options. Performance tuners would be awesome... and I even had the thought of approaching Tire Rack bc I know several of the people there that have some power.

Kyle (KRG) and I will be the ones that are going to attempt this. It probably won't be any sooner than 2010, so we have lots of time.

I think it would be awesome for the community to gather around to break yet another barrier, in a MINI.

Mikey

The door is stll open if anyone wants to break 200 in the next 1-2 years at Boneville.

It is no worse than straping up some High power rocket motors and then launching them to their death at a 45 degree angle so as to make them fly through a goal post.

Chili, are you confusing kmh with mph? 246kmh is about 147 mph.

Further, It just not a matter to getting to the speed but doing it realiable, hour after hour, without breaking down. Some MINIs can make it through the week without throwing a code

On the other hand, I'm sure a lot of those cars were meant to be on the autobahn day in, day out ... Big difference.

+200 mph easily attainable

Unfortunately, it requires aircraft and some 3,000 ft. of altitude above the point of impact, er radar trap.

It's really gonna be funny when the community looks back after 200mph is achieved and to read all these comments from the nay-sayers. It reminds me when I heard that the lil' FWD MINI would be uncontrollable on the street with over 300hp or that the Getrag 6-speed couldn't handle too much more hp than what the MINI already is putting out.

Yep, I'm sure. It was a german CL65. The speedo was the stock MB issue and went to 265 Kmh. He was trying for 250 Kmh (155mph) but fell short. I think if since we already can get to the level Tuls is at (150ish) than another 15-30 can be easily obtained with some work, and who knows with the next gen MINI how easy it will be. Twin Turbo kit? I think this power would be more controllable with an awd system. Hmmm... (brainstorming)

Back to submission aka no internet.
