Drivetrain headers-what do you have? which is best?
Why not just buy from Michael Cooper?

they will ship these to US. Claims 10HP.

Looks like we have another entry into the header competition - Comptech. Comptech makes great stuff, IMHO, or at least they do for the Acura and Honda crowd. I can't imagine their MINI header would be any less groovy.
I noticed they said it'll trip the check engine light - catless, yes, but with a cat I can't imagine it would?

Got a quote from the "Zoomers" folks (the one that has what looks like NO mufflers, and only an interesting "resonator" (which, it turns out, is a resonator and muffler all in one). They say that the price is $699 fo the cat-back and that the dB is "89", for what it's worth.

SACLAM header
I think SACLAM(MUGEN) is the best. They claim 12-15ps increase horse power.
I have installed it couple of days ago with MTH tuner file
DUZ header is lighter than SACLAM because they use thinner stainless steel but it is not durable.
If I live in USA, I would go with twin charger.

Looks like the MiniMania header.

We are currently running The new LARINI SYSTEMS header with a GT Sports Cat,
Did not had a chance to run the car in the Dyno yet, the sound is great and the quality is superb.
No issues with the installation.

Price
Actually SACLAM header is not $2k. I have paid $1450 here.
I wanted to import header from USA or EURO but if I add shipping cost plus auto emissions examination fees it would be same price as Japan domestic products.

Hey Guys,
I can speak from experience with Comptech products. I was sponsored by Comptech and helped them develop/test the majority of their Type R parts in the late 90's before I went to work for them in 2000 for a couple years. Aside from Mugen products, Comptech is probably the closest thing to Mugen you can get in a US made product.
Unlike a lot of other companies Comptech didn't start their business making aftermarket products. They have a very, very long racing heritage that actually started in the 80's with Doug Peterson racing several different cars, one of which was a Mini and the other was a early CRX, sponsored by who?.. Mugen. Talk about an absolutely incredible driver. Doug is KING of the Mini Cooper in the National GT-5 SCCA events. He can go years without driving, then jump into a race prepped Cooper and place first.

Alright.. Enough background. This is where the company began and they take extreme pride in the craftsmanship and quality of all their products. Their welds are awesome and the fitment of all their products is as good, or better, than OEM. The majority of their products are CARB Legal and they have the CARB certification number to prove it and usually provide it as a sticker with their intakes, headers, cat's, and ECU's.. They do EXTENSIVE R&D on everything they put out and ALL of their headers and exhausts are made in-house. They don't put out a product that doesn't look right, or perform up to their expectations. Although their products do look good, it's the function that comes first. You will never be dissatisfied with a Comptech product. If you have any problems with it, they're quick to remedy it. It's really not that difficult to make a header that will make more Peak HP.. It’s a challenge to make a header that performs strong over the entire RPM band. That comes from R&D. A perfect example is the Honda S2000 header. Comptech took 2 years to develop a header that actually MADE power on that car. Literally hundreds of header designs later, they finally made a header made around 5 HP. It's not just about flow.. it's about tuning the flow.
As far as CARB certification goes.. for the most part it's a $ and time thing. It costs a good chunk of cash to get your products "CARB Certified" and it does take quite a while, sometimes more than a year, to get your product certified by CARB. Luckily, Comptech has been working with the CARB for many years, primarily since their NSX supercharger kit (a true work of art) came out. They seem to be able to move their products through quicker than most companies, which is good for the consumer.
It's because of the extensive R&D, quality craftsmen from the USA, and CARB certification that the price is higher than the asian made OBX headers you see out there. Quality comes at a cost.
Sorry for the long-winded response, but I just wanted to give a little more in-depth info about a very respectable company and a great bunch of guys.
I'm actually considering picking up one of the Comptech headers if I can get my connections to work..

It looks like Seven Enterprises, practically right up the street from Comptech, has Comptech make the header for them.. the link is below. They show it as a Not Street Legal header which makes sense. Comptech makes products for many other companies and it probably wouldn't be as cost effective to CARB certify it when it's such a small production volume.. Anyway, here's the link..

Good point.. and I completely forgot about John. (how could I!) Hytech makes some really nice stuff and John puts in some serious time one each project he works on. John's got a great way about doing it. He doesn't just knock off headers.. he takes the best header out there, and makes a better one! The only problem is althought his work is incredible, he has a very narrow field and his prices are definatley not in the 'knock-off' arena.. His volume is very low but if you want a custom piece, John is the guy to go to. I've seen some of his turbo manifolds and they are so nice you hate to actually put it on your car.

Thanks.
That's a nice looking piece at a decent price. Tri-Y too which is a good thing in my opinion and for my target.
Question:
What are the good headers priced at,
any price comparison
We are selling our Larini Sports Header with GT Cat for $1034,
Are we out of the ball park?
Let me know your thoughts
thanks
