Ahhhh The Saclam header makes another appearance... D...ROOOOOOL JCW is a distant second.

If money weren't an object there'd be no question which header ...unless I was going Twincharged

So, I guess ya' pays yo' money and ya' takes yo' chances!! Good luck!
this reminds of my friend who had a 300z that was undergoing the smog test... well passed the sniffer test but failed the visual just because the intake wasn't carb certified even he had other stuff on the car. ha that sucks.

i dont know.. maybe very few people actually have the mth because it is expensive.. i have it and love it.. the mth header and miltek cat back makes the cooper s sound like like a beast.. love it. love it. love it.. power is pretty good too. not sure how much it contributes to my dyno numbers but atleast it adds something to my 201whp figure..

Isn't all this talk about CARB approved CAT's a moot point? I'm pretty susre the EPA, more lenient than CARB, says you can't replace the OEM CAT unless it has failed and the failure has been proven by a flunked emmissions test. And even then aftermarket as long as the failed OEM unit is outside the warranty - which I believe is federally mandated 80k Miles. Maybe this has changed since my '97 Jeep CAT failed, but I can't imagine its gotten any easier.

Thanks ingsoc, I found a couple vids of Randy's car, that thing sounds beastly! I'm sure there are one or two other performance bits on there that contribute to the sound as well .

this is very much true, i gutted the pre cat on the stock header, installed it and ran the car, nice result in performance. after a couple of days the car slowed down a bit, also noticed alot of soot on the boot. this was never a problem before the mod. i reinstalled the tuner file and the power was back, but over a few days the car started to run rich again. i am waiting on a file to address this issue. if you live in a smog state, check into gutting the pre cat and then welding it back together. this mod is only detectable by x-ray as it looks completely stock. from my testing so far i am getting about 4-6hp.

cheers

Sorry I haven't jumped in on this a bit earlier but 62Lincoln gave me the heads up, thanks. I have had the Jackson Racing unit on my car for about 40k miles. This header is actually designed and built by Jardine which has been in the motorcycle 4 cylinder business for quite awhile. It is a 4 into 2 into one with a " step up " design. I am sure there are some photos on the Moss site. The header is well built with a ball and socket system to provide the flex which has not leaked to date. When i first put it on the car I had some issues with setting off a few codes . I had no cat and just the Borla race exhaust. The sound was even more crazy than now . I decided to make a change and decided to go with a high performance cat. I checked out the stock cat first and was surprised to see that it was not that restrictive and decided to use it. The jackson system leaves a nice straight section which can be cut and the cat welded in. It was too quiet for me though so I removed the Borla resonator which combined with the AGS gives it , shall we say , a unique sound.
As for performance gain that is a tough one. When I installed the header my car was more mild mod wise than it is now and to be honest I did not notice much seat of the pants improvment. I feel this would be the case with most headers if it is one of the early mods. Where they come into play and become more necessary is when you have gone further into modding, intake, pulley head work etc. Then you NEED a header to get the full benefit of those mods as well as the header itself. Hope this gives you a little bit more info, feel free to ask any other questions .

Thanks for the review Randy. I did see that header on the Moss site and was wondering if anyone had it on their mini. Sounds like you have had good success with it with no problems. Its good to see some more economic headers coming into the mini market.

Anyone seen these before:

I'm happy with my OBX, I just ran into these and had never heard anything about them, maybe just some knockoffs?

$250 for the ceramic coated header, not bad. Anyone try this header out? Also, where can I get an o2 simulator?

Why don't you do it, pfunk? Just charge a larger markup since it takes up more room, reducing your ability to bring other inventory and on an order by order basis. I'm sure there are some people that would pay the price.

Any data available on them?

Anyone with custom headers on a MINI?

I don't think the ULTIMATE header has come to the U.S. Though, this depends on your mods. JCW kind of got the idea by relocating the CAT. Burns Stainless has a header design program that I'd like someone with more knowledge than me go through. I'd like to see a header designed with mid range power, STX rules and the JCW kit in mind.
