Drivetrain Is relocation the first o2 sensor possible?
Is relocation the first o2 sensor possible?
So I have this header that friend gave me... they look like the Pilo Racing 2 piece header. I guess he bought this as a prototype or something b/c it was a while back according to him. The only problem is that the first o2 sensor is place at an angle where it hits the sway bar. He didn’t wanted the so I took them.
Here is a pic of the header from ebay only this one has the issue fixed… Its just like this one but the o2 sensor near the flex pipe hits the sway bar…

Now the question is. Can I relocate that sensor just a bit higher on the same area just so that I can avoid hitting the sway bar? Basically cut out the one there… cover the hole and make a new hole to make place for the o2 sensor… Would it affect the header or the cars performance?
And any idea how much that would cost to do at a muffler shop? I mean if i can get this one fixed i can save some money...

If you put something that's too long in, just drive for a while, take it out, and you'll be able to see what part has been exposed. Just grind to lenght....

Keep in mind that it's not recommended to install a bung on the very bottom of the pipe (such that the tip of the O2 sensor is pointed upwards) due to the possibility of drips from condensation falling on it and damaging it. Mount it at a slight angle.
