Duct tape mod?

I remember back in the days of MCO when pulleys werent even an option yet, when the most popular mod for an MCS was the famous duct tape mod.

Whatever happened to that? Does any still have it? Just curious

Just finished my Duck Tape mod, but didn't seem to get the same results the rest of you got. Did I do it wrong?

If you open the hood there are three little vents at the front edge near the intake entrance. The modification was to tape over those vents to keep air from flowing up into the hood, in an attempt to force more air into the intake.

Thats the grill intake not the scoop intake.

The idea was to eliminate air going into unnecessary pockets in the hood. Keeping the air flowing to its intended places. Its under the hood areodynamics .

I was the first thing I did to my car LOL . We all wondered if it really worked . I think we were vindicated however as has anyone looked under the hood of a 05 ? Now there are factory plastic fittings covering the holes we used duct
tape on. If BMW went to all the trouble to design and mfg. them maby there was something to it after all ?

Maybe that is 1 of the real reasons that the 2005 MCS HP figures increased. The firmware and the Factory Duct tape Mod! At least the factory "duct tape" plastic pieces are loose and drain water.

So, I wonder of the 05 pieces are retrofittable, sure would look better than duct tape.

I wonder how much weight I would save if I took the factory plastic pieces and replaced them with duct tape. I bet I could gain a .10 in the quarter mile.

Free trade. You send me your plastic pieces and I'll send you a roll of duct tape.
