Drivetrain alta oil catch can instalation
alta oil catch can instalation
hi im new to this site and sorry if its all ready been covered. ive fitted an alta oil catch to my 53 plate mini cooper s just as the instructions say which i found was great until the can doesnt seem to be collecting any oil just like a bit of condensation. ive read on other posts and threads different ways to install them as the alta instructions are wrong or something. i was wondering if some1 could clear this up and help me out so i can put it right thankyou
I have recently installed two separate cans. One is plumbed from the PCV to the small gray tune that goes to the down-stream side of the throttle body, and the second can comes off of the valve cover vent and ties in to the larger tube on the up-stream side of the throttle body. So far I have only collected traces of oil vapor in the first can and nothing in the second can.
I am beginning to think that these cans may only be needed if you race, track-day, or really rev the car. As my mini is fairly new, I don’t rev it above 5500 rpm and as stated above, there is just a trace of oil in the first can.
See photos.
