Drivetrain Vendors Shootout .....

It will be very interesting to see in the same track all the tuner with there car no mattle who wins.all ways you have something to win and something to loose but if you not tried you never know.It like when you make a new part you going to be the best until came one copy the part make some modification and then he has the best part.that's life.i think all the tuner have something to win.
LEST TRIED TO MAKE THIS REAL. NOT ONLY A TRAED.
" if the vendor or tuner need cash for rent the track, dyno etc count with me.and if you make a video i buy the fisrt copy."

ooooooooooook. Thats not a bad idea though on getting some magazines out there to either host the event or supply media coverage.
TV? Ehh.....Its gonna be hard to pitch this BUT....I have ins with a unknown named producer at Spike TV ( Company friend ) so ill pass the word around.
Someone want to make a list of Venders who are up for the challenge.
Disagree

By using the original Eaton charger, we would see what really can be done when we push the envelope.
If any thing goes, and any changes can be done, all it will prove is that one

??? Come on
[QUOTE=AC_MINI]I think Peter is right on this, by having some kind of rules that all vendors should follow because most of us will never see turbo, Nitrous or electric SC’s on your MINI.
Rules should be set for stock MINI with maybe only CAI, 15% or 16% pulley, header, exhaust, same type of tires to be fair and most of all it should be street legal because 99% of us do use our mini to commute.
What do you all think?
I know a certain individual who uses a MCS with a turbo kit as an everyday driver. Therefore, as I stated in my previous post, this mod is a valid entry into the contest. This contest should be about who is developing the most cutting edge and effective mods available. If the mods are available from the vendor to the general public, they should have an opportunity to show what they can do against the competition. As long as everything is transparent, what is the harm? More information is better, and we can have access to more data by being more inclusive with the mods that fall within the general framework of the challenge. Even if we agree to disagree on this point--LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
This is one of the best threads in a long time. Let's keep it up.

East Meets West is coming up in a couple years - 2009. The 50th anniversary even. It would be cool to see this event run a couple times before then to have it somewhat streamlined/smoothed out to showcase there.
i think is no problem to run with turbo kit if one of the category is all mods until $5000 because i see that you can buy for $4,800 a turbo kit from helix but you can not added any more mods because you run with more money of the category.it will be a stock mcs just with turbo kit vs pulley, cai, exhaust, throttle, injectors, ecu, head ,cams all you can until $5000.[QUOTE=docross47]

This is from my friend at Dinan :

good idea under some circumstances, but I doubt Steve will want to do it. The problems I see are that we're not about 19% pulleys and piecemeal cars. One could argue that's the point we're trying to make, but tell that to the forum guys. Some probably make more horsepower, but driveability, longevity and the best suspension setup (not the stiffest) aren't things that carry a lot of weight. The verdict would read, "Dinan has a great all around package, but there's faster cars out there."
If a magazine like Car and Driver did the shootout I doubt it would be a problem, but there's too many unknowns.

But the thing that keeps it interesting is doing the Krazy Karz. Having the alpha Krazy Kar does not a good tuner make, but it does give them bragging rights, for what that's worth. In that spirit, I think we should make it a 'run what you brung' event. Hopefully ingenuity will prevail over the mighty dollar. If all agree to that format, I have a secret weapon in the making (imagine Dr. Evil's pinky-n-pout).
Make it happen at Watkins Glen and we'll be there......Im sure i can drag Nuzzo out there for this. Hes in a mad dash to get his car ready for the next race....I even forgot to ask him today after talking to him like 5 times to get his car ready... O well..
I have a built Dinan car on the lot but never put a susp in it plus it has no diff ( Hoosier slicks didnt even help ) which sux when i AutoX'd so i doubt ill do anything good expect some decent 1/4 times.
Krazy Kars is what we have.

We're in!
I love the idea, though rules are definatley important. As is WHERE this will be held. For us, Portland is great, but for PILO that would be a hell of a drive. The best place for everyone may be somewhere in the middle.
Having one driver, like the Stig, i think is a great idea, but we are not opposed to getting our own drivers. One of our employing pro
An unlimited budget could also bring some unfair advantages for people, and i think a cap is good way to make it somewhat fair. But if more poeple really want an all out cost no object competition, i don't think we are going to see the viper conversion, carbon body, or $100K car. In reality, that much invested isn't going come back to that vendor in added sales. So with that, we would all find our own cap on the budget that would be more realistic to our expected return.
Also the parts that are on the car have to be parts that people can actually purchase, no one offs. If one offs are allowed, you will see that SRT-4 motor in the car, which then is it really a mini?? Webb mentions that starting today the parts have to be for sale to the public. This too is a good idea, but there are many parts that we, as are many others i am sure, that are waiting to release products at SEMA. So i would suggest a date more like Nov 7.
I would love to see how this all progresses, and maybe we can have our own MINI shoot out in a magazine!

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!!!
Let's stop discussing and start NAILING DOWN LOGISTICS
Let's get this thing moving towards "where and when." I am a newbie, but I am sure some more seasoned people could tap some resources and connections to get this thing advertised and sponsored (Tire rack, Eurotuner, EVO Magazine, Team Dynamics, H-sport, etc.) What d'ya think? There could be different "classes" ranging from "run what you brung," "cutting edge developmental," and "price controlled." This is a great idea, don't let it die.

This is a great Idea though. I like the sounds of this competition.
We may want to have the same drive run everything, that way, drivers experience is not going to have an effect.
I saw Nuzzo yesterday at my work and I told him all about this and he seemed to be up for it......So if its not a faaaaaar drive, we will go. ( for the right money ) j/k...lol
He wasnt sure about bringin the cars but we will talk more about that later.
We can always do a local shoot out on the east coast after this if anyone is interested.
