Drivetrain Raced 2 WRX's... ;-)
Erinn drove for the "parade run" at the Dragon last April.
After the first few turns, she asked, "This is parade speed?"
Fearless chap I am, just clutched the door handle and held on for dear life with a white-knuckle grip.
At the halfway point, she commented on the burning odor wafting from the traffic in front of us.
A short time later, we realized it also was us.
Once we parked down by the bridge to cool off, the first words to leave her lips were "So how much are those big brakes, and where can we order them?"
At the exhaust shootout, her second choice (after JCW) was Borla Loud.
She needs to drive him more often. Good things happen when she does.
If we can swing the time away from work, we're planning on attending Dragon Run 2005. It will be a wonderful 10th wedding anniversary trip if we can make it, though it is certainly a big departure from what we were planning before the MINI entered our life. It's amazing how these little cars can change lives.
I must be the most spoiled kid on the planet.

I'm actually selling my 03 WRX for a new MCS. I originally looked at a MCS before I bought the WRX, but I woudln't pay the mark-ups dealers were demading at the time. The WRX is a great car and has a lot more power available on the cheap (relatively speaking). But I really like the mini's agility and class. Hopefully it was a good choice
As far as 'this' car is faster than 'that' car, I find its all pretty meaningless when you start talking about modified cars. I've seen some videos of a 9 second GEO metro. If you want to, you can go REALLY fast in just about anything. And even when you're talking stock for stock.. bleh, there are just so many good cars out there today they should be enjoyed for what they offer. The attitude towards other cars and brands seems pretty good on these boards, but I've visited some where ignorance and brand loyalty seem to be one in the same.

One of the guys I work with is a Scooby nut. He's got an early turbo Legacy motor he wants to swap into his current car- says the single-cam engines (2.0 or 2.2L I think) are more durable, and stand up to hard flogging better than the later 2.5's. Like me, he's "cashflow inhibited," so he's trying to figure out how to fabricate his own FMIC for it. He figures he can do it for about 1/4 to 1/2 the cost of a prefabbed kit.

I went to look at the EVO (WR?) and was blown away. That is a much better looking car in person. I hope to drive on this week
Deciding between the WRX and MCS was one of the hardest decisions ever, and that was in 2002. I still look on the Scoobies with some envy, like when I get a ride with my buddy and practically time-travel, but I finally got out on a track in the S and oh my god was it perfect. Yeah, I could do with a bit more horsepower (like say, 50) but I can't imagine a car being more predictable or confidence-inspiring without it wearing an ///M badge.
great topic.
i have driven a few wrxs between 2002-2005,and for the price, they aren't bad. I drove my first mcs last week, and have become a huge fan. It handles better, is more responsive, looks great, and was a much more enjoyable driving experience. i still like subarus and awd, but the mcs was more fun to drive.
the forester xt is much more fun to drive than the wrx, it puts it's motor to shame, but (stock) handles horribly. then again, it's a sport ute wagon. the fxt has more torque, and no noticible turbo lag. put it in ist gear, step on it, and get blown away, just don't take any turns
so here i sit, reading the forums, still deciding on which car to buy. all of which have many pros and cons. the mcs was my favorite, but is the most expensive. the wrx was the least expensive, and my least favorite to drive. the fxt is in the middle, has lots of room, is very quick, but needs other mods to handle how i would like it to. the mcs is pretty close to what i want, without having to do and mods immediately.

If it helps.. the MCS is orderable with LSD after the new year.. but the big issue here is do you need the room? If you need the room then Subie is the better choce.. If you want fun to drive then MCS is your better choice. Or you could always go in the middle and get a Saabaru 9-2X which is a WRX in Saab drag. Its much more attractive IMHO and comes with a better warranty and maintanence plan plus they have HUGE incentives now.. My neighbor just got a 9-2x Aero with moon roof <not avail on WRX wagon> and other goodies for 24,900 due to all the incentives on them right now.. His Saabaru is BEAUTIFUL too
