My earlier post

"I have been on vacation and away from the computer but I think it is rediculous that there are no numbers on the AGS yet....... A dyno cost about $65 can we take up a collection....I'm in for $5.

There must be someone outr there with an AGS that has deltas on there old rig"

I wish the John Cooper Works intake could be added to the list but I realize that might be impossible/too late/too much added work...

If I missed anyone or included someone eroneously, please speak up.

We have decided to do more like 8 runs including two runs of each intake to reconfirm. This will now take up two dyno sessions so all the donations will be of great use and remain at $10/person. Pilo has offered to lend us their intake to take part in this test.

The test sequence will be:

1-stock
2-stock
3-Alta
4-Alta
5-Pilo
6-Pilo
7-AGS
8-AGS

Rather than PMing everyone for the Paypal details, just go ahead and send $10 to my email and I will keep track of your names:

Thanks again,
Sid

I hope JS's Mini doesn't blow up on the dyno

Yes there will be a heat shield on the AGS. And BTW, at some point when I'm done with the new hood scoop, I'm planning to start modeling some sort of ducting to direct air from grill opening to the AGS unit. Obviously I need to have AGS on car first to figure out what and how to do the duct. I don't expect HP improvements, just to cool air getting to the filter.

JS

PS. Sid, me too.

U' know...that JCW air box is designed to be used w/their upgraded supercharger so it may not perform as well w/out S/C.

I agree. I would like to see the JCW intake included because I'm seriously considering JCW vs. AGS. There may also be JCW owners who are contemplating the AGS.

However, I know there will be a practical limit to the number of intake that can be tested. Whadda ya say, Sid. Can you include JCW?

Regretably, we are already at the limits of testing practicality. We need to book a dyno for a good part of a day for the amount of runs and labor involved as it is. Not to mention, I don't have access to a JCW intake.

So far, I have 6 people who have actually sent money. I will reply individually later today. Thanks:smile:

If M7 plans to use this data in any way shape or form they should be paying for the dyno run.

Give it up! If that were gonna happen, it would have already happened. My $10 is in the pot because I've stopped holding my breath. By doing it ourselves (Thanks MSFITOY and JS!) we're getting what we want when we want it.

Did they pay for the "flow data" that someone else generated and that they have quoted? Could the marketing strategy be one of letting others do and pay for that sort of work?

You actually think they don't already have the data?

Let's not drag this event into the gutter, please. JS and I are betting that the AGS will out perform the others. By how much...that's what we're here to find out. I have vested interest as well since I participated in the developement of the AGS and JS has spend good money buying it. We're not here to **** on anyone. This will be a objective a-b-c-d comparison done on the same dyno, same day, same conditions.

Thought everyone might like to know a little history of the car that will be tested. 2005 late April delievery. Oil/filter changed at 1050 miles. Car will have less then 2K when tested. Not babied but not tracked yet. Seen rev limiter a few times and redline more often. I will be re-installing stock wheels/tires on car for test as I don't want the difference of wheel weight or size to alter results of test. One item that remains not stock, is exhaust. Cut up factory unit to make something similar to the Alta system. As for a date - I'll set up a test date when Sid has the money. Planing for next week sometime, when Dyno is open for us. I'll post when I know for sure.
Good idea. I'll take a camera and take some photos to send along.

If there's time left over, I wouldn't mind putting Msfit on the rollers I doubt it though. Another time...

I think you meant modified "Borla" JS?

Great, that sounds good. Thanks again to Sid and JS for taking the initiative to organize this and get it gone. Good on ya! May the dyno gods smile favorably upon you.

Call it morbid curiosity. I have an Alta intake, but I want to see the numbers any way. I'm in!

$10 sent.

Used Borla parts but fashioned them into something similar to the Alta system. Will show system, in photo on Dyno, so all can see what has been changed from stock.JS

Bravo guys So far we have 8 who have paid out of the 20 some odd people who have expressed commitment. At this rate, we should be funded by tomorrow:smile:
