Drivetrain Ready to dyno AGS

the funny thing is everyone can go round and round about the best possible senerio....but the tests were for each of the intakes...and they were ALL in the same place done the same way...what else do you want...if there was errors they all have the same ones...so it's still relevant
Also, does anyone have the charts? not the #s...the accual vissual charts so we can see the curve. cause that will tell alot...Peak HP is nice...but when and where does it peak...maybe one got thier a little lower on the curve...same with TQ...
The charts would make this easy to see...that's what they are for

i have a stock intake/exhaust car with just a 15% Helix pulley and would love to donate my car for a test, as long as i get to keep 1 of the intakes when we're done. i'm serious by the way

OMFG. Ok boys. I hope I'm not the only one who can read this, because the answer lies right there:
Alta fastest - run 9 - 14.55 secs. to 104, power 159.87, w/ hp peak 160.84 at 101 mph, 13.83 secs.
AGS fastest - run 11 - 14.55 secs. to 104, power 146.54, w/ hp peak 154.79 at 101 mph, 13.8 secs.
Which one made more power?
Can you say tie?

Well, well, well... That puts a new spin on things. If this is the case, it means we're back to personal preference again. And this is on an otherwise stock MCS. If we repeat the study after JS does his pulley, will it turn out any differently? Maybe, maybe not, but it would sure make for an interesting experiment. Allow me to repeat my pledge for another $10 to continue the study.
Also, on those runs, the AGS reached 101 mph [power peak] 0.03 secs FASTER. I can only therefore figure that the dyno guy lifted his foot, because the AGS was ahead all the way til ~101 mph. The AGS was stopped at 104, but the ALTA continued [to redline, 105]. Maybe the AGS is faster up top, too, but he just lifted and made them even???

Suggestion: Please, no more testing!! M7 chose to hype its product by stating something along the lines that the AGS would blow away anything else on the market. That obviously is not the case, even though they (M7) will do a lot of fancy dancing in an attempt to salvage what they feel is the latest and greatest of air intake systems.
Perhaps people in the Mini community could send M7 a note acknowledging that the M7 air intake system is a really "cool" (couldn't help that one) and "dyno"-mite product, and that the Mini community wishes M7 all the best in their endeavors to come up with some neat-o stuff. It should also be mentioned that the free product evaluation cow has left the pasture, and that M7 will now have to provide and pay for its own product evaluation...

its not that hard to figure out that when someone uses the letter ( U )that that means ( you ) and if i use ( ur' ) thats ( your ) ( # 2 ) is for( to ), I type and get across to a lot of people on here now that understand just fine. its those select few that keep hounding me like they have nothing better to do!!!! but to sit here and constantly put down vendors/ and their ideas-- individuals/ and their ideas and just plain get away w/it while others get reprimanded (not saying any names) if they challenge some of these fools. i totally will try to get my thoughts down on this keyboard way better so as to not cuase so much DRAMA.......... cuz' thats EXACTLY.... what it is!!!!! AS FAR AS THE ACTUAL subject here i cannot say what i really want to say cuz i dont know that it will jive very well till a certain someone speaks out about it first........dont want to cause any BS DRAMA so i will keep it to myself till i see its ok to go forward w/it but if the car on the rollers never reached REDLINE HOW CAN any of this be accurate and if the ecu was not cleared then theres another reason to reconsider the #'ssssss..........( numbers) key: to translate what i have typed.. but anyways AGS made more torque im happy W/it Hp numbers come after!!
On a serious note, Joker said (I can only roughly translate compu-bonics) that the AGS didn't have a chance if there were faulty testing styles, but went on to say that the AGS had more torque, and the tests confirmed that.
As Andy said, unless the tech used a different technique on only the AGS, then the results are consistant, if not accurate. As the results for the Pilo and Alta mirror previous test results, it's safe to say that the testing styles were not faulty.
As for compu-bonics, ewe no ewe kan spel wurds fonetikly butt yur knot tipng on a fon. Yous a keebored, an wee kan reed betr win ewe spl da hol wurd.

So many errors, so little time...

So really, if you're going to post smug "told you sos" or crap like what made up your post, please check your facts, examine your assumptions, and check your attitude.
And don't speak for me. We're members of the same Mini community, but obviously, there are many more than one voice!

see what i mean..... faulty!! it seems that a 'tech' was not the one behind that throttle when this test was consumed.....so do the math maybe thats why the redline's where not reached///
just a theory of mine! anybody else want to chime in..................mayb

Fact is, the first threads weren't started by M7. That is true. M7 did contribute to the threads, and did their share of excessive marketing hype, and were roasted at the time for it. But most of the fires were stoked by non-M7 hands, and now M7 is catching crap for every claim made by every person who ever spoke on the issue.
Fact is, that the stock part could be a piece of crap. The AGS tube may be much better, and you may never see the benefit unless the rest of the system can take better advantage of the increased flow. Filter area is a good issue to examine as well, but the issue isn't closed, nor will it be for a while (if ever).
So, if you still read the previous, and the REST of the information that bears on the issue, and still think your position is correct, that's OK, we'll agree to disagree, and life will go on.
But still, don't speak for the community at large, just for yourself. I don't suppose that my voice speaks for others, even though I get lucky sometimes, and hold the same opinion as others.... The Mini community has it's own voice already, and that is to support the vendors of products they choose to buy.
M7 leads the way in a lot of areas. I, for one, will not push them off the cliff because the lead a new path, that sometimes gets to places that we don't want to go. That's the price to be paid for trail-blazing! At least they took the initiative to invest time and money to create a product that you scorn with so little investment....
Matt
mad props to you Dr.
i feel that same way about a vendor's style of marketing.
everything is all about marketing...... look around you i think that most of all this hype about M7 was done not by them --peter& randy but done by the fans that believe so you see its the best type of exposure when your fans put you out there like your some kinda king but w/that comes all these fools that want to tear you down no matter what it takes.
Andy is a great person to have around if you need someone to be negative w/
he is also real good at making things sound or look worst than it really is he tried to change my quote around to his favor to what he would like to see to make me look bad among the older crowd here on NAM but fotunately it did not work cuz no body saw it like that but him cuz he wamter it to look that way.....he reminds me of a kid i knew in high school allways looking to get on somebodies nerves i for one dont care he is comical to me...hes got good points sometimes but usually his posts sound like he know's it all and noone can tell him nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

while this is true, the most hype about the AGS came from other NAMers that saw pre-production versions. M7 did their share of spin, but to say they were the only cook in that kitchen is serious revisionist history!
don't know about the fancy footwork, but I would think that every vendor would look out for the interrests of their business and products. Pilo makes their own points as well. As they should.
, so there's a monolithic Mini community that shares one vision and voice? News to me! And they do send messages, with every one that's sold or not sold what the heck are you talking about? This WASNT free, unless you didn't send in $10, and it took time and effort. If you're saying that no one will post dyno numbers every without compensation, there are so many examples that differ that I can't believe that you'd make the claim. If you're implying that M7 scammed us to chip in, you are wayyyyyyy off the mark. This was a self assembled group that gathered resources to achieve a shared goal. you make so many negative assumptions here. Why vilify M7? M7 did NOTHING to create this test, or discourage it.

"Serious revisionist history"! Please show me where I said that M7 was the only cook in the kitchen.

I do stand corrected in my suggesting a monolithic Mini community. I also believe you have misread/misinterpreted what I wrote. This whole testing thingy was indeed a free ride for M7, because others paid $ to do that which M7 said it was going to do. The folks who put this dyno testing together were well-intentioned, but, do you really think they would have organized this if M7 had posted their own comparative numbers?
So really, if you're going to post smug "told you sos" or crap like what made up your post, please check your facts, examine your assumptions, and check your attitude.

Definitely agree with that...

. To think...is this really a thread about the AGS?
