Drivetrain Rogue Exhaust Anyone??
Wait - don't hammer me yet. Realizing that since Randy has dissed this system it's already doomed to extinction, I just had to run a dedicated post to make sure that I must to rule it out completely.
Rogue increased my suspicions by not answering my email regarding concerns over poor fit and exacerbated it even more by running a special that throws in the intake for free when ordering the exhaust.
For those that haven't read my other posts, I need the center area under the bumper for a receiver-type trailer hitch. The SuperTrapp is out.

Other exhausts to consider: Hartge, Hamann, Maxi-Tuner, Eisenhaus (last two may be the same...I think Maxi-Tuner uses the Eisenhaus) and maybe G-Power
Hartge...actually I suppose this might be a birds (http://www.birds.uk.com/) thing, but let me tell you, the people at Birds are great to work with. Good people, fast and honest responses to any questions that you might have, and good products.
Hamann - Good stuff, but usually expensive!
Maxi-Tuner and Eisenhaus...never dealt with either really. Eisenhaus, from my M5 messageboard days, is supposed to be really good stuff, but a pain in the @$$ to get over here in the US.
G-Power doesn't have anything solid out for the S as far as exhausts go yet. On their site they have a pic of a dual-exhaust Cooper, but no S. If I remember correctly, there are three companies that sold the same M5 exhaust...G-Power and eisenhaus were two though, so it's probable that G-Power will have a dual exhaust as well.
I hope this helped.

Just curious why the Supertrapp is out? Don't like the look, sound?
An exhaust that that could be a potential exhaust for you if your not in a hurry is the Supersprint. If al finds people that would like to see it in a more light weight race version he said he could get supersprint to fabricate basically the supersprint cooper exhaust using the S diameter.

Grinder,
Good info. I'm already working with Eisenhaus US in Chicago, and will be getting the fisrt S production system for evaluation. It sounds very promising, but I'm not sure if it won't be a center outlet.
I'll keep you updated on the progress, of course - I just didn't want to let the cat out of the bag, but since you did...

I am VERY satisfied with my Rogue exhaust, and recommend Rogue to any MINI owners I meet...
I would say the fit was good, just not perfect. On my MC, the exhaust tip barely rubbed and bumped/rattled on the edge of the heat shielding until I added a couple of aluminum washers as spacers on the bolts between the heat shield and rubber mounting brackets for the muffler.
Try this link for picture 563, page 63, in the Member MINIs gallery of a Rogue exhaust, with my comments added.

Casey is right. I carry the Rogue for the Cooper - a very nice system. The S is the Rogue that doesn't fit. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that.

Read an extensive review regarding the installation and sound of the SuperTrapp - didn't appear they were very happy overall.
I've decided to try and be patient at this point. The free intake offer from Rouge was very tempting, however. I've only had my MCS for a couple of weeks and I'm already enjoying it as much as I anticipated. New wheels and tires are on and everything seems to be breaking in well. As usual, I'm upping the max RPM's (gradually) and the ECU seems to be adapting well. Gettin' more of a "gurgle" out of the stock exhaust. A few more HP and it may be as fast as the '02 3.5 Altima I just sold (drag race of course - it was plain scary in the twisties).
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I'm really getting spoiled by the community spirit of MCO!

Randy, Eisenhaus is going to do a center outlet as well? I've seen pics of an Eisenhaus quad exhaust, but i guess that was just a prototype...
And Randy, how many different projects are you involved in right now??? How do you keep them all straight?! Brakes, Suspension, oodles of exhaust manufactures, bmp, m7, mini mania, etc etc etc... Keep up the great work!

All of their stuff is in the prototype phase right now.
I just want to make sure you guys get the best stuff! I don't think I even know how many things I've got going right now.

Well the only extensive review of the SuperTrapp I have seen is from Garfield over at MINI2 and he swears by it. He was leary of the sound of it at first - but has grown to love it. Additionally there is a few others on MINI2 that have fit the supertrapp and love it. If your leary about the sound, call up supertrapp and ask for a local dealer and see if you can go hear the supertrapp on a few other cars they might have there. It will sound different, but will give you an estimate. That is unless you live out in the VA area then you could just check out Garfield's car first hand...I think it is VA where he lives - somewhere out around there.
I too was tempted by the free intake offer, but was originally drawn to the Rogue system because I want to put a hitch on my MCS. However, after reading about all of the problems getting this thing installed and the overall quality of the system I decided to pass.
Has anyone put a dual Supertrapp system on their MCS? I love the center exhaust look, but would be willing to give it up if I have to in order to put a hitch on. I would prefer not to go to a single exhaust. The Supertrapps are about $150 each, so I think you could fabricate a custom dual exhaust for well under $600 that would be cat back so you could keep the stock system in one piece. Since the Supertrapp is tuneable with the addition/removal of discs, I would think you could find a good setup depending on your priorities(i.e. sound vs. performance).
Also, I just got an e-mail from Rob Levinson at UUC who said they are working on a hitch that will work with the stock and aftermarket center exhausts. That might be worth waiting for.

My post is alive....... You must be as hardcore as I am regarding a hitch solution, Sean. I want mine for a bike rack alternative. After caving in and buying a Saris Bones this weekend (65 degrees and my Mtn Bike was calling), I'm still convinced that a receiver hitch is the way to go.
To stay with the original topic, I'll mention the Hartge dual (quad) outlet discussed in a few other posts and featured in EVO or another Euro mag this month (read 2 different articles, but didn't buy the mags). Looks good, although they referenced no direct power gain. Anyone out there with info on pricing? Appears to be in the $1k range.
If you run across any other hitch solutions, Sean, please post something under Exterior mods - I'm not going to give up! I like your idea regarding the dual SuperTrapp as well. I'll try a search, but what's the UUC link?
