I had a question posed to me by a fellow MCS owner. At what point does a performance filter, air box mod., new wires, ECU upgrade, pulley swap, etc. make no difference if you still have the stock exhaust? It does make sense that the OEM rather restrictive exhaust system becomes a hinderance at some point. Just wondering about ideas on where that point is.

I would think that if you can change the exhaust and get more hp from an otherwise stock engine that that line has been crossed already, that is no additional mods need to be made to realize a hinderance.

Thanks, Steve, for posing the question so well. I think that there are some of us real amateurs out here who would like to customize and improve performance but may not be able to afford to all at one time. Thus the ? about the exhaust's ability to handle increased pressure(?) from any added enhancements at the front end of the car. To add, and I told CCM about this, K&N claims that their air kit is only for '02 MCS and that use on '03 MCS will mess with emissions. Here in NH, we don't inspect for emissions but I would hate to see that check engine light blinkin' at me. Any thoughts out there? Thanks all

No emissions where I am either. I'm gonna be lookin for the highst flow rate rather then DEQ'able. I heard that headers + exhast can get pretty loud. Any one have that set up?
