Any full kit JCW v Dinan Performance Write-ups yet?

Wondering if there have been any head-to-head tests of a fully kitted JCW v. a fully kitted Dinan MCS. I'd be very interested in how the two different approaches end up performing, w/ the major difference of no new cylinder head w/ the Dinan engine upgrade.

I can't recall anyone on NAM claiming to have gone the DINAN route. I'm sure they're out there, but none come to mind...

I am wondering the exact same thing. Looking to purchase in the next few months and I am real curious about the Dinan kits v JCW. Don't be shy folks, let's hear your critique.

I've got Dinan exhaust, TB, intake, strut bar, and stage 4 software. I want the boost kit, but the labor is rather high so I have held off. There are plenty of people on this website that will bash Dinan, but I have been very pleased. GoMINI magazine, (June issue maybe) did a test on the S2 MINI.

Tell me about the warranty

I read the article on GoMini June issue, pretty impressive, good prices too.Love the idea of having warranty from Dinan, actually what does it cover?

I was able to try out an 02 with the full Dinan package it was impressive. The owner also has an 05 JCW and feels the Dinan is as quick or quicker. I also feel the Dinan fuel system is smoke and mirrors. The stock system is more than enough.

By this Friday I can tell you about Dinan!!

By this Friday Afternoon it will be on my 2003 MCS the complete Dinan SR53-S2 except the suspension because when I bought the car from Crevier it came with Koni adjustable, the people from Bullet of OC is doing it all for me and I know I won't be dissapointed.

I'm pretty far along on the Dinan

When I took delivery of my 05 to replace my 03, I went all out Dinan. Boost Kit, throttle body, injectors, intake, Stage 5 software. I didn't do an exhaust though. I must say.. This thing MOVES. The butt dyno says it's much faster than my dealer's decked out JCW, but I haven't had the opportunity to get some numbers using the autoenginuity ODB software dyno....

Blasman, what did your dealer charge for the boost kit and installation? My dealer wants $750 labor, which seems ridiculous since the whole fuel system part of the boost kit really isn't even needed.

Yeah, that is my concern as well! Pretty close in cost in my neck of the woods as well. Especially so given that the regulator is not needed...

I'll have to look at my paperwork when I get home. I'm pretty sure is was less than that....

The nice thing about Dinan is that their dealers have verying rates - when I had the work done to the E46 I found that the per hour labor charges were all over the map depending on the shop. In the end I went with the reasonable indi shop dealer and saved quite a bit vs the other dealers high prices and I got a BMWCCA discount to boot

I would be concerned that the Dinan Parts aren't CARB Certified. Dinan has an excellent reputation and their mods should add value to a vehicle, but if no CARB Cert. no resale in California.

I spoke to someone at Dinan about the CARB certifications. He said that the whole Dinan package was approved by a SMOG referee, and that they are in the process of getting the parts CARB certified. I'm not sure how long that will take...

WOW!! It's amazing how it pulls! They told me at Bullet that theres a break-in period for the software to adjust to your driving habit's and not to baby it for the next 100 to 250 miles or so, after this I'll be take it in for the dyno #'s.

Can we shed some light on the people who are less educated about Dinan? (me)

Maybe a link to a website?

I think this might answer some of your questions questions about the basic packages being discussed.

While I obviously am curious about the JCW v. Dinan comparison, for those who have the dinan package(s), how does it compare to a modded S (i.e. pulley / CAI)?

I was quoted $3800.00 for the full kit. Boost, intake, TB, Pipe, Software, and possibly injectors, and install. It sounds high to me but considering its basically the same end result as JCW I might go for it.

Does anyone know why the exhaust only has one nut unlike all the others?

Sounds about right ... parts are $2745 plus 10 hours labor to install:

No injectors included as Dinan replaces fuel regulators.

The latest Go MINI magazine i grabbed yesterday from borders had a nice write-up on the dinan S2 package. They thought it was better than a lot of the other kits out right now. I've went for a ride in Dinan's mule and it was pretty nice. Seems to get up to 70MPH pretty damn fast!

OH! Yeah! I can back that up totally, and the launch is better with the DSC off. Here's the Zoomers exhaust that I heard about.

Dude, you don't screw around with cheap upgrades! Stage 5 Software means you've got the boost upgrade too, right?
