Yes you heard it...
I added the MiniMadness cold air intake.
It was a snap and the 15 minute timeframe.... was just shy of 25 minutes for me.
I'm slow...but...steady

It's all they say it is...
-1st gear is a new experience....smooooooth
-the whine is more pronounced.....nice
-no dyno here...but it "feels" faster

Randy from Mini-Motorsport did his part...and shipped it...as promised on time and ready to rock.(it arrived oiled/pink for those who speak.... mod)

Now we are off to exhaust land.
Randy you'll be hearing from me soon....
magnaflow vs quicksilver......????
read all the stuff, viewed all the videos...heard all the sound files
let's see
eeene....menee....mini?....mo

come on all you mod maniacs....

what is a mod newbee ta do.........lol??????

Peace,
D

Dennis,

We've talked, and you know how I feel - MAGNAFLOW!

I just love the sound! And power is power.

The Quicksilver is nice too, but both the Magnaflow and the Quicksilver have, how do you say, different tip designs. The key that it has going for it is the weight. I think the Magnaflow fits better though.

As you said eenie-meenie-miney-Magnaflow

I think the mini cooper would look sweet with the remus dual exhaust. Its a bummer to have to cut the bumper.

Thanks for the comments here, as I am leaning toward the Magnaflow myself. 2minis lives in my area he has it on order I think. Should be interesting to see/hear it before I buy.
I gotta quit fixin stuff around this old house I live in and save some cash for the exhaust!

what about a Borla exhaust? Sounds great, classy and subtle

hmm, if I was modding, go for new shocks/springs/swaybars, do adjustable rear lower control arms, short shifter, supercharger pulley and ECU reprogram, and, oh yea, a set of SSR Comp's with Toyo's (light!!!!)

...sprinkle with weight reduction, nitrous, water injection and a healthy amount of carbon fiber replacement parts and oooohhhhh eeeeee!!!

Oh wait, reality. Uhm... Got the Madness intake, Madness rear sway, KW springs, Madness rear taillight tints, big stereo and soon...plates, window tint and real brake ducts where the fog light holes are (glassing it myself).

Beware Dennis, once you start down the mod path it's hard to stop. Just like tattoos..and ask L.Mini how addictive those can be!

Ok now that D's in the game, maybe I'll be next. Randy (or anyone else that can answer) - how will changing the intake affect my scheduled maintenance? Will I have to bring them an extra air filter? Or do I just change or clean the filter myself? I'll probably have to bring MINI in for service in about 6 weeks. I'll probably do something after that.

The filter on the Madness intake is reuseable. When it's time to service, you just unscrew the hose clamp attaching the filter element to the intake plenum and remove from the engine bay. Spray it down with the provided cleaner that comes with the intake. Then respray with oil, again provided.

Theorhetically speaking, the filter should outlast the car in most cases. Just do it yourself. An easy little project. No need to even have the dealer touch it.

Just a MOD update
I ordered the magnaflow exhaust from Randy yesterday...and have setup an date/time w/a good friend who owns a local garage to install in sat 1/25. This is gonna be fun.
I've been reading all the posts and i agree...that i can see how it becomes a bit of an addiction...this MOD stuff.
I was rambling on w/ Randy last nite ( he was kind to actually listen), about how I'm gonna order this...then that...then this...

Here's my list as I see it, in the order that makes sence to me.
please any comments/ suggestions would be appreciated:
1. air intake: completed
2. magnaflow exhaust: on order
3. tinted windows
4. new tires
5. rear sway bar
6. springs/coil-overs
7. wires

Peace,
D

i like the addition of tinted windows right after the louder exhaust!

I also have the mod addiction compounded by owning a metal fabrication shop, where i have no excuse except time to make my own control arms, tower brace, camber plates, header, port matching, custom air intakes, pulleys, etc. Hardly enough time left to drive the damn thing!

I've been watching everyone's opinions on intakes on other threads and how they feel and work for awhile now. There seems to be a difference in numbers though.

I'm deciding now between the Madness intake for my Cooper'S' and the BMP version. I heard both mixed responses. Does anyone have a concrete dyno on both of these? Claims on power with both seem to vary too much.

RandyBMC: I've checked out your site and noticed a claimed 4hp increase on the BMP. WOW. From what 'they' claimed on their site and such, that's quite a difference. I know that you can never really believe what they say.
I just want the best performing setup. Might as well do it right the first time by doing all my homwork first.

Opinions, critisim, comments anyone?
Cheers,

Just wanted to add. For those whom are in the learning stages of open air intakes, you want to be careful how much oil you use to re-oil your intake after cleaning it. I always hear of problems with others when they do this. They usually apply too much. After awhile sensors along the inside of the intake channel get clogged from the intake oil. Don't apply it so it's dripping.
White/grey=needing oil
Pink=oiled
Red-dark red=too much oil
Most tuners or manufacturers will give a 'how-to' document with the purchase of one.
Cheers,

has anyone heard anything about radio interference with performance plug wires?
my old Sentra SE-R started getting really bad radio reception after i added magnecor wires, and my mechanic at the time told me the wires were probably the issue. as for the performance bug, it hit me in 95 with my SE-R (R.I.P. ) and it just gets more and more fun the more mods you make. i am a little apprehensive about doing mods when i get my MCS in February, due to warranty issues. anyway, great website, great conversations, why not, great cars right?

Ooh! THis is great news d-mini-ero! So you should have both the ROgue intake and the magnaflow exhaust by the time of our Bear mountain MINI-meet! Those are the 2 I'm thinking of getting (probably the Rogue after the MEET and then maybe the magnaflow in the spring, sort of for my birthday). But I'd love to see and hear the mods in person first!!!!
