urathane engine/trans mounts

anyone running these ? sure seems like the engine moves a lot. I am curious how much vibration/harshness is transmitted into the car with the urathane bushings ?

I was thinking to do maybe just the uppers and the trans or just the trans or ?? Maybe all of them if it wont be harsh and rattly because of it.

Any input on the bushings is apreciated, good bad or otherwise. I would prefer opinions from people with actuall experience with them on a mini.

thanks in advance !

There have been a couple discussions in the Suspension forum I believe on this topic. John Petrich and jlm have done quite a bit of experimenting in this regard, and me minimally. I'd try a search there to see what you can find... Key words would be "compliance" "bushes" or "bushings"...

you will have more vibration transferred to the cabin when idling with stiffer motor mounts; that is the major downside.

did you do al of the mounts in your car ? I was thinking to maybe start with the one on th ebottom, the one that would seem to control front to back motion. ( the one under the car )

How is vibration while driving ? How much vibration are we talking while idling ?

Thanks for your input.

Some one call? Of course, I have them. I have Powerflex bushing inserts in the top/bottom right side mounts. After seeing my motor nearly jump out at the last dyno, I thought that can't be too good for efficiency. The Powerflex does transmit a small amount of buzz into the cabin at idle but I hardly notice it anymore. The Mini isn't exactly a smooth operater at idle anyway...you guys know what I mean...can't decide if it wants to stall, idle, choke, near stall... Bottom line, I wouldn't go back. The launches are much improved as there are no slack to take up. Feels like your right foot is directly connected to the motor now.

that is what I was thinking. Sorry I am not sure I completly understand your post. You have all the bushings changed or just the complete right side?

The right bushing do not require replacing. Look at the upper left corner of the picture. The yellow piece are the bushing inserts under the strut brace. The new bushings are actually inserts that capture the originals from top and bottom filling the voids thus making them solid. I left the left bushings (transmission side) stock as they didn't contribute to the transverse movements of the motor. I don't know if this Powerflex will apply to models newer than 03
