If I'm reading this correctly, JCW say that their s/c is "larger"? We all knew it spins faster due to the pulley, but larger? Spider, any way to get JCW to clarify that comment?

I thought the JCW SC was the same as used on the 05's now. It has the coating that give the SC closer tolerances which create more boost for a given rpm.

more details.. sure sounds like the same one... I doubt JCW would want everyone to know.

I don't know exactly, but if it's ported any, it would have more volume, and that might be why they say larger. Heck, just a guess...

That's rather non MINI-esque logic though .

For what its worth.....I'm getting the M7 SC mod. I think that will keep up or outdo anything that the JCW people have come up with based on dynos of complete JCW cars

Check with Classic Auto Campus

While JCW may not sell single items, they have to supply them to Mini for repairs.... Classic Auto Campus quoted me just the head when I thought I needed a new one, and wanted to see what it would cost to upgrade. FYI, it's over $3k!

For what it's worth.

Notice that the in outmotoring link the guy from Eaton said it "continues to be different" not bigger. It is my understanding that the diff. between the production model and the JCW model is the water pump gearing and pulley. The different gearing compensates for the smaller pulley by slowing the water pump down.
Other than that, the vanes are coated (as they are in 05's), increasing tolerances and boost pressure.
Wth the number of people taking them off and apart for porting and polishing sombody must have come across a JCW SC and checked the internals. One of them will chime in here sooner or later.
Joey
