How about whipping up some desmodromic valves for the MINI?

Just yank 'em off your Ducati.

F1 cars can actually rev over 19k as of today, producing around 950BHP. Ferrari has stated last year that they have gone over 20k 1000BHP on a test engine.

333HP per liter normaly aspirated!!! insane...

no wonder the each engine costs 500,000$.

I have heard rumours F1 uses some very exotic valve closing engineering, like electro-pneumatic.

Yea, they have to use pneumatic valves because springs just can't rebound that fast. They're LOUD...El, you need some

Judging from past posts of this type, there's not much chance of getting any specific details about this car.

Oddly enough, Hubie and KC don't fit that mold you're referring to. They're very good about posting the specs of their car. This was posted by them back at the end of March 2005 ( https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=39942 ) I'm sure there's more things that have changed since this post.

Porsche 917 CANAM 12 cylinder 5 litre cars were hitting 11500rpm in 1972-1973 era.

iirc, the 917/30 made upwards of 1,500 HP at full boost - recall mark donahue held the talladega speed record w/ this car for decades.

Yes, August 1975, 221MPH and you're right the record lasted a long time.

Wow, that's a lot of power for a FWD car . How do you get traction in lower gear?

don't forget...the throttle is not an on off switch...

the biggest reason "stages" exsist is cause you cannot get in a very high HP car if you have never driven one...ok wait...yes you can...but it's not smart...it takes time to get used to power and the finess it take to drive it...it's more fun when you have complete control of your car...well that's my opinion...

dude i would think with that kind of power DSC would not help you at all...
well unless you wanna waste your brake pads in about a week

getting grip with that HP, is not easy but it could be done... all you gotta do is be very VERY VERY soft on the gas

Definitely looks cool, but this is a modified Mini and there are a ton of stock looking SRT4 that could still whoop up on this Mini.

Anyway a dyno video is lame, lets see some 1/4 mile video's, or something on the street.

Also, not sure why SPI or anyone else is really saying what is on this car. Seems like El is their official spokesperson. It would be nice to see what else they did to the car (i.e. change pistons, what head, how did they increase from 300 to 430....) Also, how many miles have they put on these modifications. Is this something that will last? AmD had a 400whp Mini too about 2 years ago, but it didn't last.

I don't think AmD 400whp is ever exist on this earth. It was just a dream that AmD was dreaming 2 years ago.

Dude, they've already posted a 1/4 mile video. In both Vendor Announcements and in the replyable forum here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=42870

On the street?? Are you crazy? Save the macho man driving stuff for the track. Wanna see the SPI car on a race track video? Here ya go.

Dude, they already did post what they've changed. See above links.

Dude, they already did. They had a year on the car with the Stage 1 TwinCharger kit (15k miles if memory serves). The info is in one of those threads listed above.

Notice the trend here? "They already did"

A skeptic....... As a Phoenix resident, chalk me up as another MINI owner who has seen this thing in person (actually put a finger on the car)! It is mean... I cannot speak for reliability as I do not know... But I think for now, the limits of the current MINI motor are being tested! One can only assume that once the failure point is defined, one can then tune a vehicle to offer something for all crowds (e.g. reliability, durability, lengthy life span, power, noise whatever). Hubie is a great guy, someone to sit down, have a beer and chat about anything! I am not aware that he has anything to hide... Actions speak louder than words...

But I am impressed when someone leads in a new direction, testing the limits of the current unknown... I hope you at least recognize that!

Why does this SRT-4 keep coming up? This thing is a fad car, it will die as quickly as it was given life! This vehicle is a Neon, built like a Neon... Is it quick... yeah... but put a turbo on anything and crank the boost up, it will be quick! With Neons, you can expect things to fall apart/off the vehicle on a rather normal basis... Build quality is at the typical $20k Dodge level...

Eh, he probably went to tune it correctly as that number is waaay too low for twin turbos...speaking as an STi owner with a few mods.

Glad I found this thread so I can check out your site. Debating about ordering the JCW kit with the S or going aftermarket. My concern is engine management if I go with the JCW kit and continue to mod, only to end up needing a custom tune. Any thoughts?

I know of a few people who modded the JCW package only to need a custom tune. And, yes, there's more HP to be gotten out of the base JCW tune even without adding more hardware.

There's lots of aftermarket vs JCW threads on NAM with lots of good reading as to the pros/cons of each. Enjoy!

cant wait to see it my self!

phoenix resident here:smile:

heh, my only concern tho with running that much power out of that teenie engine is how much i'll have shortened its life. "the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long" and all that. in this case the candle is burning a little more than 3times as bright, and as yet we dont know how long it was to begin with

ne way, just my thoughs on the matter

A stock SRT whooping on Hubie's Mini? How could a stock 230HP SRT4 whoop a 400+HP MCS? Anyway any car can be modded for more performance... A stock SRT4 would whoop a stock MCS, but for me I just don't like how the SRT4 looks and would prefer a MCS over a SRT4.

Edit: Oops he said "stock looking SRT4" Well you could mod a MCS and keep it stock looking...ummm as long as you don't pop the bonnet open!
