SPI Progress Report: Evolution Of Power
Our project has finally reached its first real milestone as we surpassed the 400WHP mark. With this level of power, we can now address issues concerning the transformation of the Mini into a serious race car. Development will continue, but not at the expense of driveability and reliability. After all, it is a Mini, and having fun is what the car is all about.
The following data breaks down our development over the past year. Our experience combined with some luck has kept us moving in a positive direction and we look forward to raising the bar higher and higher.

Nice.
"Reliability" is the key word, as you mentioned. I know from experience as I've been driving my Helix equipped twin-charge for two weeks now and while it's the mutt's nuts I know it requires occasional tweaking. But, that's what we trade for being on top:smile: I had to have a reflash to the latest stock version (v.41?)-don't ask, it was my fault- and it corrupted the turbo tuning. I will be sitting down with the laptop in the MINI while on the phone with Psi-Fi and Helix later this week to retune.
I am working out a plan for an oil cooler as I'm finding that it runs all that much hotter with the turbo. How are you guys addressing heat? It's got to be wicked hot out there. Other than adding Red Line Water Wetter I haven't done anything else about the heat issue.
Again, way to go on the progress!

--->Hubie, Congrats! Is there a possiblity you could give everyone a general overview on what consists of each stage of development?
Cheers,

Congrats, Hubie! I find it amazing that your current peak HP is almost exactly THREE TIMES the stock peak power ... and that's starting with an engine that exceeds 100 bhp/liter.
Imagine an 8 liter viper that put out 800 bhp (stock is a measly 500 bhp). Now, picture a tuner tripling that 800 to 2400 bhp.

I would guess that's the very moment when the SPI proved both that, black holes do indeed exist, and, at least one of us has the power to overcome such obstacles.

The nitrous is, however, an extremely effective means of cooling the monsterous amounts of boost he is pushing.
I was never a fan of nitrous either.......until I put it on my rig. Now it just makes me giggle like a little child every time I smoke other "sports" cars! I will say that I would much rather have a twincharged set-up. CCM gave me a quick (very friggin' quick) ride the other day in his Helix powered machine. The car is off the hook, straight out MENTAL! It just pulls, and pulls, and pulls!
