Laminova core intercooler

Hey guys just thought that I'd post some pictures of the intercooler system that I have been running for the last year now. If you have any specific questions on the system pm me.

The big cnc rectangle houses two finned (radiator looking) tubes, known as the laminova core (from opcon, the same company that makes the autrotor supercharger), water(or coolant) flows through this assembly then to a resovoir, then through the inline pump to the condenser (which happens to be a stock mini cooper s intercooler) then through the intercooler assembly.

As the water/coolant flows through the cores, air coming from the supercharger is flowing cross ways over the cores (all of this happening inside of the rectangle) which in turn cools the air and then continues on to the intake manifold.

Do you have any performance info? Not sure a water to air IC is the best application for the street???

In any event, you appear to be having a little fun the your car.

Clevy, where are you from? I have a friend too...looks like his shop...his name is Anthony...

The price is 2300. For everything. The temperature drops are anywhere from 280+ degrees before the intercooler and below 110 after the intercooler.
Oh and by the way MEB, Anthony is a very good friend of mine and he prepares my race car as well as advises me at races.

Thanks for the interest.

Interesting setup. Whats going on in the aluminum box upstream of your intercooler?

I like the laminova cores because the present interested packaging opportunities. Imagine two cores mounted in the intake manifold's plenum and the inlet location moved to directly above the supercharger's outlet. You'd have a straight shot into the intake manifold and would effectively eliminate all those funky turns in the intake path.

JLM, are you listening?

The aluminum box before the intercooler is just a hollow piece that air flows through.

Clevy, I understood he was a friend and that he helped out. I just found it interesting that the shop looks familiar, and, that I have a friend named Anthony who also races, advises about racing and is an instructor...do you live near Salem, New York??? Meccanic's Shop North by chance???

What a coincidence, I live in denver and my car is worked on and kept at a shop here, where a good friend of mine (anthony) works on it. That is funny that we know such a similar person.

I dont even want to talk about it, it took 2 full days of trimming and heating just get it to close right.
