M7 Technology pulley.......New

Here is the latest exciting product from Team M7..........

As we were looking to add a pulley to our existing product offering, we realized
that if did so, it had to be better, with the typical M7 "outside the box"
engineering and mind set.

So after staring at the typical pulley for an extended period of time, a lot of ideas how to improve the breed came to mind.

And these are the improvements that we have done:

#1 Belt to pulley interface IE. we changed the geometry of the
grooves, allowing more belt to touch the pulley surface. This will give the belt
better grip.

#2 We added shoulders to the outside of the pulley, preventing
the belt to walk of the pulley surface.

#3 Active cooling, by pulling in cool air (holes in pulley shoulder).

#4 Super low belt slippage with our proprietary v-groove surface treatment.

#5 Thermal surface barrier for lower belt temperatures.

#6 We decided to use a 16% reduction for our pulley, it's more then
the usual size, for a tad better engine response. And the other benefit is, if
a 2% crank pulley is used your change of accessory rpm will be a little
more with in safe margins.

And as always feel free to call us, pick our brain, or just enjoy
a fun chat about our favourite car the MINI.......

sounds great....

and will you be offering said 2% crank pully? other crank pully sizes?
what about ECU programming from this configuration?

Its a little like christmas morning whenever the m7 announcement finally reaches the boards. keep on innovating!

Thank you...
I just posted the price....

Crank pulley will follow, and ECU uppgrade is always optional, but with that said

First upload your pictures to the web, you have a gallery here on NAM you can use.

Once you've uploaded the picture. Open it in your browser and then right click on it and select properties. In the window that opens you need the URL of the picture, highlight it and copy it (ctrl-c)

In the post that you want to put the picture in do the following:

Where you want the picture in your post type

It should look something like this but without any spaces...

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions...

Have there been problems with belt temperature or slipage, or walking? I haven't seen any of that posted before...

will it run okay with stock ECU?

not sure I like the 16% as many of the ECU Flashes are optimized for 15% or 19%.

With a 15% pulley reduction you can use the stock belt. With a 17% or 19% pulley you need to use a smaller belt. What size of belt would you use with a 16% pulley?

Peter

will this new pulley work with the stock belt or will it require a special belt? what was the reason to go 1% up on the pulley size? are there cars that already have had this installed? and for how long? I was holding off on the pulley on my 05 MCS but now I think, you've just changed my mind....

Good Morning..

I like to address some of your questions.

As the engine compartment heats up, so does accessory drives, pulleys
and metal surfaces. This will prematurely age rubber, plastics or other
natural or man made materials. Our Thermal barrier will keep the belt cooler
thus extending the life expectancy of the belt.

Slippage is a well known problem with the style of rubber belt used on the MINI.
At high load a small amout of slippage will occur and this will again generate
heat and a small amount of power loss.

The 16% pulley will work beutifully with a 15% ECU map. As most programs
keeps the A/F ratios in the very rich regions, the added load from the 16%
M7 Technology pulley will lean up the ratios giving you better throttle response and more power.

As for throwing belts...no it's not a problem with a 15%-16% or 17% pulley
but if you would change the crank pulley to a 3% unit, suddenly we got
a problem IE. thrown belts. The lipp will prevent that from happening.

At this point we have utilized the stock belt, but we will try the
the Napa # 25-060539 this week.

The reason for a 16% is purely a personal preference for even numbers.
I also like the idea that you can add a 2% crank pulley, get to 18%
with less stress on the other accessories and operate within the rpm
envelope that the SC was designed for.

Don't want to hijack your thread, but is this part number a smaller belt and can it be used with your new pulley?

From reading peter's post above that appears to be the smaller belt and they have yet to test the 16% pulley with the smaller belt, but plan to soon.

Haha, so you may have to change your name to M16, or M14 (double 7's)?

I have the same question as PARTSMAN109; what is this particular pulley made from?
Looking forward to a busy year for the M7 crew...

How come you're not known as M6? (Disclaimer: no malice intended, just found it amusing.)

M7 sounded great, so M7 it was.....

The Technology pulley was released as a product last night, so Steve has not
had a chance to install one.

The material in the pulley is Unobtanium*

*Stainless Steel
