So I got the idea from I believe the brand is DOS and instead of spending 10x more than the few parts cost ,I made my own for pennies on the dollar.
I've run a few different intakes on this car now , factory jcw box , modded factory n18 S box ,standard cone filter 4.5in velocity stack cone filter, and I had the filter in a few different places depending on which intake manifold I had at the time.
this Apollo intake sounds good too BUT I gotta admit , the velocity stack definitely sounded the loudest. I really like to hear my intake and with this you still can tell it's aftermarket but it's not hella loud hurricane noise like with a velocity stack but it's definitely not as quiet as an oem airboxso it's a great middle ground.
Best thing is about it ,other than price is : IT GETS TRUE COLD/FRESH AIR !!!!!
Actually I take back whst I said , while driving this intake is very audible inside the cabin , I do have a big turbo full bolt on engine so I don't think your will be as loud unless you have the same mods but it definitely sounds good , just Loud because it's aiming rote at you ..lol

I would want to keep the MAF and PCV air accounted for, so this would get a little complicated. I don't think there are big gains to be had, but making some space in a tight engine bay would be nice.
Only question is if the MAF will play nice with the transitions, and how annoying it would be to make a heatshield.
I think Lou on here did one on here but I can't find it anymore...

I seen that also but I don't like the idea of having to relocate the expansion tank. Plus , it gets better fresh air behind than it does from the front. The front is shielded by the hood more than the rear and the radiator in the front is a big heat source also. Though I like the short ram. Imo for track the short ram without a headlight would be BEST but unfortunately not for a dailydriver.
I've had some odd things happen too when repositioning the mafs too close to an intake manifold or sc/turbo , ive had them not meter correctly because of it and I think being too close to the engine and it picking up the noise or vibrations screw it up..
I wonder if we can delete the mafs and tune for speed density and how a modified engine would respond then vs mafs.. hmmmmm
I swear some n14s somewhere some year that don't have mafs..

Pretty sure some euro N18s came mafless, so I'm sure it can be done, but I'd like to keep the MAF.
I'd try to make the smoothest transitions possible from filter-MAF-turbo, and throw an extra honeycomb air straightener in there in front of the MAF.
I don't mind the coolant re-location because the location is hilariously inconvenient from the factory. Imagine popping just the intake off to do an oil change and not risking splitting that plastic tee every time lol.
Edit:
Worst thing at the start is trying to find a size transition coupler for between Turbo Inlet and MAF that has a PCV port. Also some planning required for different turbo options for the inlet end.
I can't find something like this in any size, if anyone knows of something, I'd appreciate the lead.
