Drivetrain Cam Swap
Cam Swap
Long story short, made a mistake while doing a different repair and damaged the end of the cam shaft where the sprocket sits. Now finding myself needing a new camshaft. I don't have the budget to be switching over a bunch of other parts right now so I need something that will work in an otherwise stock set-up. Been looking at the cat cam 461, 469, RMW 246, 250, or the WMW street. Everything in reading is from people who have done lots of other mods or who are planning a tune. I will not be getting a tune. Any info is appreciated.
From.what I remember the catcam 461 is a nice mild cam for street that should be ok with stock 330 cc injectors and stock head .
the 469 is a nice camshaft for mid to higher end , but may need more supporting mods to get the best out of it .
Sorry don't know much about the rmw cams . Some.of the other members will chime in.
I personally went with newman ph2 on stock head , 380 cc injectors . Had it tuned with adrian to get the best out of.it .
Alltough some cams are said to be more mild , they all benefit from supporting mods . ( air intake/ headers, etc ) . Just remember that the higher power cams may require higher injectors depending on how it affects your afrs.
Look through the forum and I am sure you will find quite a bit of info on some.of he cams that have been installed . Hope this helps .

Honestly, if you're not planning a tune, just stick with stock. (Check with Detroit Tuned or Way, they quite often have used OEM's around.)
Even mild Cams "may" require a tune, (even the mildest) problem is you won't know for sure until you're done, if the ECU will adapt on its own or not.
