Both of the headers on their site are 4-2-1, and yes, I know that. There are some obvious differences in the two headers they currently show on their site. The top pic is deceiving, but it's still a 4-2-1. Supposedly, they changed the primary tubing size at some point though.

They actually do have a web site now, wow. I wonder if they sell the donuts?
I still have my ebay OBX header, it has better than 100,000 miles on it,... no, I don't work for OBX.

Haha, ok, terrific. BUT, do you know WHICH ONE you have ? There are two on the site, and they have slight differences.

I also have that version and have had it for 40K. Never any codes or problems. However, I just got a new BVH and had my car re-tuned and there seems to be an exhaust restriction @ about 7K rpm. I don't track the car and I rarely get to 7K, so I don't notice it. But I am considering changing headers when I win the lottery. The OBX work good for now.

Well Ordered Mine . . .

I got the header today and the exhaust arrive Friday, so I have an appointment to get it installed Friday after lunch.

I am going to replace the tips with something else though as I don't really like theirs.

I just got my header installed yesterday; this is with a Magnaflow catback.

I went 100% catless, and it's loud as expected. At normal cruise RPM's it's very tame and not louder than stock, but when you step on it....big difference in noise level, and the power is there too. It certainly livened the car up.

Obx

Well got the kit(exhaust), and took it to the Mini Specialty Shop; and it was a complete BUST!

The hangers are all wrong for the 2005/06 S, there is a major section of pipe missing that would have included a hanger set. Even with modifications it would not of fit around the battery box.

So we made the decision to abandon the project! So now I have spent 150.oo$ in labor time, and 65.oo$ in return shipping for the system, I am keeping the OBX Header, but their exhaust is just not worth dealing with.

I did order the Ireland Engineering setup, and will try this project again.

The IE catback is notorious for needing additional work to allow proper fitment, as a heads-up. Nice system, but slightly imperfect.

There is no possible way it can require as much work as what it would of taken to do the OBX setup, But I will make the hanger modifications to make it hang correct.

c0op3r,
Just wondering if you have the new exhaust on, and what you think of it.

Thanks,
mandd

Ireland Engineering Exhaust Setup

Well got the Exhaust from IE, and I would not suggest this thing to anyone!

Strike 1: Took them 8 days to ship the item after it was ordered

Strike 2: The welds look like a blind person did them, and if they were not blind that most certainly were drunk when they aligned the pipe and fittings, the main flange that would of connect to the factory catback flange was crooked and was done that way on purpose to correct the crooked pipe coming out of the resonator!

Strike 3: The way the actual tips hang/connect would cause them to contact the rear valance, not to mention that cut & weld inside (as mention in other treads) is rough and ugly, and the inside tip is basically going to do nothing!

So what we ended up doing was installing the OBX Header, and making a custom "TEST PIPE" to run the system without the Cat. using a 90° O² Sensor Mount into a section of 2.5" Stainless Steel Pipe with a Stainless Steel V-Ban Fitting.

The Resonator Hangers is too short on one side, it might of fir better but remember that the pipe is welded in crooked, so the whole exhaust is pushed a little to the one side.

The Hangers on the muffler section should be a little longer to allow the system to hang a little lower, so that when the tips are installed they would not contact the rear valence

I will post some more photos later, my phone died as i was at the shop all day as they fab'ed this all up

I'm not sure which one it is, but they sell OBX donut gaskets here:

I usually don't like to revive dead posts but I wanted to mention that the OBX header is still around ~$200 shipped from Sparktec Motorsports but it's now $300+$30 shipping on ebay. Don't buy from the eBay vendors!

I installed mine yesterday using a factory cat that was cut up and welded with the OBX flange(the previous owner of the cat indicated that the work was done at Helix). The fit and finish of the header was maybe even better than expected? Some of the welds do come close to the bolt holes but I used the 8mm socket screws+washers mentioned on post #415 on page 17. The links are no longer valid but that vendor is still in business and still sells both.

My stock header tore apart on me Friday morning and I'm pretty positive I'm going to order one of these headers. For now, my car is parked until I get something figured out. I think this should pair nicely with the Alta cat back I recently installed.

so... the obx catback doesn't directly bolt up to the exhaust hangers? their headers, however have no trouble?
