300-350whp?

Hi all,

I'm currently at the point where I have basically done all the bolt ons to a R60 and wondering where to go next. I have upgraded the turbo to a jmtc 42mm and have had it for 2 years now and want more but noting insane. I know I would have to build the internals next but I'm just not quite sure what to look for, what I would want, and how to apply it all together to work efficiently.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you dynoed your current setup to determine HP?

No but I assume from looking at other mini's dyno's with similar setups and tunes. I know i cant make more than 300 with stock internals.... well you can but it wont last long from my understanding.

I believe a dyno should be your first step. It's impossible to know what alts you need to do to hit your HP number without knowing what your current number is.

In addition to your current mods, who did your tune --- if you have one?

I have NM charge, discharge and intake, Wagner tuning comp intercooler, Mario Kart catless DP, Scorpion catless exhaust, 42mm JMTC turbo, ARP studs, degree colder spark plugs, forge bov, Tuned by Mario. I can go get it dynoed but if i see r series running similar set ups whats the point? I had it dynoed in 2016 when it only had a JB4+ tune with an intake and made 161 to the wheels. I'll make even less with awd. To my knowledge I don't know who could even do a dyno tune on the R60 (upstate NY).

Looks like you've done most of the inexpensive mods. Consider a larger diameter ICI pipe, similar to the one JMTC sells. It adds up to 20 HP --- very noticeable on the butt dyno. Catless DP and exhaust is nice, but 3" catless would be better. Then head work --- clean up the ports for improved flow. Allowing the engine to "breathe" easier is always a good thing. Then, WMI is good for added power and keeping intake valves clean.

Dyno tuning doesn't have to be a continuous process, it can be done with multiple runs between tuning changes, datalogs, and dyno pulls. It's just more costly and time consuming to do it all separately.

Just because you're running the same mods as someone else, doesn't mean you'll put down similar power results. Engine condition (rings), wear-and-tear (cylinders and bearings), crud build-up on intake valves, tune, all make significant differences.

Whatever you do next, ensure you get another tune so all mods work together. Talk with Lou at https://prototype-r.com --- he can do remote tuning.
