Challenge Exhaust?

Hello everyone,

I am currently thinking of replacing my OEM JCW Cat-back with something that offers more tone and is louder on my '13 R56 JCW N18. I have been browsing for a few weeks, watching YouTube videos and hadn't really found anything I was too interested in until I came across milmast's video featuring the Scorpion exhaust system. I feel like the Scorpion exhaust may be what I'm looking for and I found it available on ECSTuning. Amongst other Scorpion exhausts, I noticed that they have a "MINI Challenge" cat-back exhaust available and I'm wondering if anyone here has installed this exhaust and what they have to say about it. I'm really curious to see if it has a nice tone as opposed to just loud noise, if there is drone or not and whether or not it's unbearable, etc. I understand that YouTube videos aren't the best measurement of sound, but I can't even find videos featuring the Scorpion "MINI Challenge" exhaust anywhere, nor do I see any reviews. If anyone could shed some light, I'd appreciate it.

For what it's worth, I currently do not have any plans to modify the catalytic converter.

I will be installing this on my R58 JCW soon. Its the same as the old MINI challenge exhaust as they used to make minus the MINI logo.

Hi -
Did you encounter any major fitment issues on R57/58/59s ? Also I see this is a 2.75” diameter so will it connect properly to my 2.5” downpipe ?
thanks

My concern is..
Why put an 70mm exhaust when the output of your engine is 63.5? Its poinless :/

According to math, 63.5mm diameter pipe is good for ~230hp. And 70mm diameter pipe good for ~280hp....so for those of us with > 230hp there is a poin

On a naturally aspirated engine, you want to keep the exhaust flow up to help with scavenging in the exhaust. This helps the engine breath better, and more power.

On a turbo engine, you want big and wide open to help the turbo spin quicker. Bigger pressure drop, better turbo performance. Bigger exhaust, bugger pressure drop across the turbo.

will this be ridiculously loud on a cooper s(N18) with a decat? ive heard the S will be louder than the JCW due to compression ratios.

really like the look and sound of it in the video

No. I have it and it is actually pretty tame compared to what I had before. It has a deep, refined tone. Videos can't really capture it.

Just an update as we just landed some more stock. Free shipping also.

Mine has held up well on my R58 JCW and got a bit louder with age. Maybe my ears just like it more..lol

Need some more R55 exhaust options. Looks like Magnaflow dropped their R55 exhaust, the Hooker system lasted all of 2 months, Borla is long gone, NM system has gone extinct, and the European options are all way too expensive.

Yep we have these:

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-scorpion...per-s_clubman/

R55 and R60/R61 seems to be not on the radar for some exhaust companies or they don't see the sales volume?

I really need to make it over your way in the spring and check out your store and your Coupe.

Are you planning any Spring events? You had one earlier this year but it was on my military weekend.
