Hey, I am in Fairfax as well, and can vouch for Bigprfed22's exhaust sounding very nice. If you want to sell your magnaflow local, let me know.

I have also heard a quicksilver exhaust in person, pretty nice sounding exhaust as well.

Lol open DP is not the way to go, your resonance will drive you mad inside the cabin. I peep my head into the dcmetrominis.org meets here and there but have my own little mini crew lol. Next time we go to a meet ill be sure to give you a heads up.

Mobius,

You heard my new setup!?

Not sure, I was that guy asking you all the questions at the GMU meet a couple weeks back. Went and checked out the mini, and ended up with it. I love it, already have an intake on it and more mods on their way.

Yeah.. fixing the timing issue has helped. Much of the rattle I traced back to rattling when the clutch is not pressed (I guess this is common with dual mass flywheels?)

The first owner had the rattle of death and they fixed it not 2 months ago, so im no longer worried. Its warranted for another year factory, and then two for the replacement parts. Now I am focused on getting it off of 4x4 status.. This is what I had gotten used too:

Mobius,

You heard my new setup!?
I disagree. I have and open DP (mated to stock cat back) and experience no resonance. It actually sounds totally stock under 75% throttle then it totally livens up.

Maybe it would be different with the JCW catback

if you want aggressive then find the exhaust for the mini challenge car. they are out there but very hard and pricey to get.

By open DP, he means exactly that....OPEN. lol connecting it to a stock exhaust is not remotely the same as running it open with no exhaust.

Achilles, start by getting a catless downpipe. I have a sneaking suspicion your Magnaflow will be loud enough then Also, if you have any resonators, take them out. Almost every exhaust is going to be too mellow with the stock/catted DP.
