Exhaust choices?

I know there are several of the "preferred" MINI shops here that sell exhausts and I was wondering if there is one or two that are the favorites around here. Also, I was wondering if it would be better to get a custom exhaust.

To be honest, this is far from my area of expertise, and I've done some research around here to know at least that some exhausts seem to sound pretty bad, while others (like the JCW) would heavenly. But I don't want to jump to any conclusions without getting you guys' opinion first.

Thanks again for the help,

D-

I have a Justa but recently upgraded the exhaust on mine. It sound's kinda lame, but even youtube videos helped me with what kind of tone I was looking for. I feel like the general MINI population prefer the JCW, Supersprint, or Megan. But if it's a nice tone you're after plus maybe a few hp, check out youtube.

Also, some people swear by just going custom as it's sometimes cheaper and sounds much better than bolt ons like all the others. My two cents is that wit a cat-back system you can install yourself and that makes it relatively cheap.

Hope that helps.

I would check the U-tube videos, and threads here on the subject. With regards to the video/sound clips, it helps to know what mods were on the car before they bolted up the exhaust and made their videos. Some mods such as: catless, headers, resonator delets, will all change exhaust note and tone. And I have heard some clips on U-tube which lack disclosure.

You will read reference here to what is called highway drone. If you travel the highways much, it is not something tollerated well by older drivers.

Youtube is a good resource, but there's no substitute for hearing them in person. You'll get a better feel for their actual volume and tone. Go to a MINI gathering and you'll no doubt find several aftermarket exhausts.

Actually, that's the obvious answer right there. I'm going to that one in Dayton, so I'm sure I'll find something I'm looking for with all those MINIs around.

Thanks!
