Drivetrain What's your winter project?
Had to salvage this thread from the 3rd page
.
I tried taking some photos tonight of the billet LED toggles, but my camera's battery died, so only 3 of 4 toggles are seen. There is one more on the left side of the Euro parcel shelf's blank-out space (blue LED toggle for the PIAA 1100 driving lights).
The 3 shown below are (left to right):
Hornet XP3 deer device (red LED)
UNIChip A/B map (green LED)
Blue beehive interior light (blue LED)
I have blue for lighting (PIAAs and the interior light), red for alert (XP3), and green for go (UNIChip). The toggle LED's are fairly strong, especially the blue ones. For that reason, I turned them so that down is "on" as to not have them aimed upward at me
. They match the interior very well...
I also include a shot of the blue beehive light which was less than 3 bucks at Kragens. It puts out a cool, soft blue glow throughout the center console area, and looks pretty slick from the outside as well...

That looks great Tony
Did you make the switch plate? I had my windows tinted recently and will put up some images when I get a chance to roll her outside
My wife reminds me that I was just as miserable this time last year

Thanks MSFITOY. I had some scrap aluminum (90 degree, I believe 1" x 1", .125" thick). I wire brushed (rotary) it to match the MINI interior, then pop-riveted it into place. The toggles are like 5 bucks each...
Please do show the tinted windows! Spring is not so far-off

Here's the rest of the plumbing (courtesy of Peter). Nice and tidy
It ain't over yet...time to upgrade the shocks with "proper" adjustable Koni Yellow Sport. I debated switching to Ledas but have decided that for my street car that "might" see some track time, it was over kill. Aaron Cornaby at Outmotoring has a great deal on a used set if anyone's interested. For me, I'm very happy with the HSport springs so I believed this combination will make a good compromise. As I mentioned elsewhere, my clutch has not been able to handle the incredible torque of the Venom and combined engine modifications. So...the big ticket mod came sooner than I had wanted. Can't open up the tranny for just the clutch, right? Along with the Spec Stage 2 Kevlar clutch/Fidanza 12.5 lb FW, a Quaife LSD will need to go in. If the new shipment of Quaife from Helix gets here in time, Detroit Tuned will put them in for the trip down to the Dragon:smile:
BTW...anyone know if Konis use stock bump stops? There weren't any new ones included.

Found a new passenger too

i would use the H-Sport bump stops, that should be all you need as the shock is still the same travel. if you didn't have the H-Sport ones then yes stock would work.

I think that's the way it's gonna stay...stealthy
For you guys who can't ever get enough of close ups (I know I couldn't find any on the web), here's more of the Spec Stage 2 clutch plate and assembly. Interestingly, this Kevlar material has the consistancy of hard, suade leather.

Nice sid. Funny how some of us consider something like this "art".
Just put it up on the mantel and look at it everyday.
You MCS looks great as usual. Those are such cute little rotors you have there .....

I know I know...they're good enough for now, wise guy
The BBK will likely be the "final" addition. But that will have to wait as I'm in hock up to my eyeballs now because of the clutch upgrade
You know how much that runs.

MISFITOY- I really like that clean look!
yep, as mentioned above, I would also use the HSport bumpstops.
The factory bumpstops are probably too big (thick) where you'll be
riding on it too often over bigger bumps.

Thanks Ken. I thought about using Powerflex's version but I guess that's not necessary.

Installed the front pair of Konis this afternoon. Definitely need spring compressors for this install as the Konis' have much shorter stroke. Curiously, the front adjustments are 2.75 turns, not 2 as everyone says. Also, the OEM plastic top bearing caps will not fit over the adjustment tabs on top of the strut. Anyone else come across this problem?

I'll tackle the rears (and the drilling) tomorrow

I got going on the rears but found another curious situation. The rear adjustment moves only 1/4 turn
hmmmm....
(edit) As it turns out, these rear struts DO NOT require compressing to adjust. Why does everyone keep say that including Koni's instructions? The top adjustment turns two full revolutions while extended, the range that is reported.
Another issue is that the front adjustment tabs protrude beyond the point where the grease cap can be securely fitted back on. I'll have to bore out a hole and inserts a rubber nipple to provide clearance.
Test drive proves that this is a very worthwhile modification for anyone with HSport springs

My new shift extension.
I use the Alta SS and have it as low as can go. Made this aluminum extension to bring the **** closer to the wheel. Like it so far but due to some brake issues, I haven't test drivin it yet.

I don't have a part number for that. I ordered it through Ebay from Streetdemand. I was told by another vendor that they were discontinued yet mine was drop shipped from Sparco
How'd you do the shaft mod? Do you have a Whalen on top?
Can't beat Koni Yello for performance/price combo

After over 2000 miles, nothin's fallen off or seezed up...nock on wood
Kiddn aside...we should arrange to have a night together next year at Dragon for all the MMMC boys to hang. Didn't get a chance to do that much this year. BTW...you still owe me an invoice bud

Well it's been fun guys but it's time to wrap up the Winter Project. I've installed the Stop Tech BBK this past weekend and have bedded in the pads. Msfitoy is now balanced for stop and go:smile: Now, it's time to let my knuckles heal and enjoy the ride
